Several figures raced through the forest, leaping across tree trunks as they swiftly headed toward the Land of Fire. They were Konoha ninja who had already completed their mission: Kurenai Yuhi, Might Guy, and three Chunin.
Although the mission was complete, Kurenai Yuhi's mind was not on it. Instead, she was thinking about Miao. Guy did not have so many thoughts. Though he found Miao somewhat suspicious, he was a simple-minded person. Since he could not figure it out, he simply stopped thinking about it.
That Wu's Shuriken Technique looks so familiar. I must have seen that kind of technique before! Kurenai thought to herself. In her memories, there was someone who had once used that very Shuriken Technique in front of her.
"Damn it, when we get back, I'm definitely challenging Kakashi to another match!!! I've already thought of a way to deal with the Sharingan!!! Hahahahaha!" Guy seemed to be muttering something. As he spoke, he suddenly burst into laughter, looking utterly ridiculous.
"What is Jonin Kai going crazy about now?" one of the other Chunin said helplessly as he looked at Guy, who seemed like an idiot.
"This is the bromance between Jonin Kai and Jonin Kakashi. You seriously don't know? Lots of people in the village know their story," another Chunin said with a wicked grin.
"Huh? Really?" The Chunin was shocked upon hearing that. He immediately turned to the other Chunin with great interest. "What is it? Tell me, quick!!"
The speaker had not meant anything by it, but the listener took it to heart. Hearing Guy and the Chunin, Kurenai seemed to recall something. "Kakashi, Sharingan... Uchiha, Shuriken Technique!!!" Her expression immediately changed.
Upon hearing Guy mention the Sharingan, the blurred memories of Kurenai's youth suddenly became clear. In her memories, a young man wearing a shirt emblazoned with the Uchiha Clan crest and goggles on his head was performing the Uchiha Clan's Shurikenjutsu among a group of peers.
The young man seemed to deliberately strike what he thought was a cool pose, then flung several Shuriken from his hand using the Uchiha Clan's throwing technique. The Shuriken flew toward a nearby target marked with a red bullseye at tricky angles. Then he shouted at a dead-eyed young man with silver hair and a black mask beside him, "Did you see that!! Kakashi, this is the inherited Shurikenjutsu of our Uchiha Clan!!! No one else can learn it!! Hahaha."
After speaking, the young man seemed to remember something. Blushing, he proudly said to a cute young girl with brown hair and face paint beside him, "Rin!! Did you see that? This is the strength of me, Obito Uchiha!!"
"Hehe, Obito, keep working hard," Rin said with a smile, encouraging the young man named Obito. "Hehe, Thank You, Rin!!" Obito replied awkwardly, blushing as he scratched his head.
"Idiot!" A cold voice came from nearby. "What did you say!!! Kakashi!!" Obito flew into a rage upon hearing that icy voice, his eyes blazing as he roared at Kakashi beside him.
"Look for yourself, idiot!!!" Kakashi's dead-fish eyes did not so much as ripple. He reached out and pointed in the direction Obito's Shuriken had flown. Obito froze, then slowly turned his head to look. His face immediately fell. Of the six Shuriken he had thrown, only two had struck the bullseye. The other four had flown off who knew where, not even grazing the target.
"Th-this, this was just a mistake by Lord Obito!! It doesn't count!!!" Obito's face turned bright red when he saw his results. He continuously waved his hands, insisting that this attempt did not count.
"Hahahahahaha..." Quite a few Ninja of the same class watching nearby clutched their stomachs and laughed, including Genma Shiranui, Asuma, Ebisu, Mitaraishi Anko, Might Guy, and Kurenai Yuhi. They had all been present then.
"Idiot. Do you think the enemy would give you a second chance on the battlefield? You'd have been dead long ago," the young man named Kakashi said coldly, not leaving Obito Uchiha even a shred of dignity.
"Kakashi!! Don't get too full of yourself!!!" Obito Uchiha immediately flew into a rage, his face flushed red as his dark eyes glared fixedly at Kakashi.
"Alright, alright, Obito. Kakashi is doing it for your own good, so calm down," Rin hurriedly said softly as she grabbed Obito Uchiha. Then she turned to Kakashi as well. "Alright, Kakashi, you should say less too. We're all Companions. There's no need to be like this!!!"
The memories gradually became clear, and the scene from back then played through Kurenai Yuhi's mind like a slideshow. There's absolutely no mistake!!! That Wu used the Uchiha Clan's Shurikenjutsu!!!! No wonder I always felt like I'd seen it somewhere before!!! Kurenai suddenly understood.
Compared to the Uchiha Shurikenjutsu Wu had used, Obito's Uchiha Shuriken Technique back then had been laughably clumsy. Yet both the unique throwing method and the flight paths of the Shuriken were extremely similar.
"Kai, I know why that Wu's Shuriken Technique felt so familiar to me!!" Kurenai Yuhi said to Guy beside her with a serious expression.
"Hm?" Hearing Kurenai's voice, Guy immediately turned to look at her. Just moments ago, he had been fantasizing about how he would defeat Kakashi after returning, as well as the victory celebration pose he would strike. He had not expected Kurenai to suddenly call him.
"That Wu's Shuriken Technique? It did give me a familiar feeling, but I really couldn't remember where from. Kurenai, do you know?" Guy asked doubtfully. He had considered the question before but had never found an answer, so he had put it out of his mind.
"Do you remember Obito Uchiha?" Rather than state it outright, Kurenai asked Guy a seemingly unrelated question.
"Obito Uchiha? Of course I remember. He was a Ninja from our class and Kakashi's former teammate. I knew him too, and we even fought before. Now that I think about it, that kid was really weak back then," Guy said with a laugh, seemingly recalling something.
"Hm!!!?" Guy's laughter suddenly stopped. He seemed to have thought of something as well. Though Guy usually seemed ridiculous and not particularly bright, he was quite reliable when it came to crucial matters. His performance in the Fourth Shinobi World War was proof of that. How many people who could survive a war and become Jonin were actually fools?
