The sky remained overcast, without a trace of sunlight. Frigid air filled every inch of the country, and at some point, white snowflakes had begun drifting down from the sky.
Haku and Miao walked hand in hand along the path leading to the Back Mountain. The ground was already blanketed in snow, and thick layers of snow had long piled up on the trees lining both sides of the path.
Miao raised his head and looked at the sky. "Is it snowing again?" he thought to himself. He looked at Haku beside him and saw that she was still brimming with excitement. Miao smiled faintly.
Miao actually liked snow very much. It was not merely because the scenery was beautiful. To him, only in colder places could one better appreciate how precious warmth was. In his view, those accustomed to warmth were more easily corrupted. The Uchiha Clan was like that, and so was Konoha.
Ever since his father had told him about his mother and himself, he had not held the slightest favorable impression of Konoha or the Uchiha Clan. Moreover, while buying ingredients at the market, Miao had accidentally heard that Konoha had suffered the Nine-Tails' Rampage two years ago. In the end, Konoha's leader, the Fourth Hokage, had sealed the Nine-Tails, bringing the disaster to an end. The Fourth Hokage had also sacrificed his life sealing the Nine-Tails. Countless Ninja and civilians had been killed or injured, and all of Konoha Village had suffered a devastating blow. The advantages it had gained through victory in the Third Great Ninja War had vanished entirely. Though it was still nominally the greatest Ninja Village in the Ninja World, that title no longer matched reality. Cloud Village and Stone Village, the defeated nations, were also beginning to stir.
Serves them right!! Miao could not help thinking. He felt no sympathy or pity for Konoha, nor for the Uchiha Clan.
According to his father, the Dojutsu Power of the Sharingan could control tailed beasts. However, not every Sharingan could control tailed beasts. One needed not only the Sharingan, but also exceptionally powerful Dojutsu Power to accomplish it. Those who possessed such Dojutsu Power were exceedingly rare throughout the Uchiha Clan's long history.
In Miao's view, everything happened for a reason. Since Konoha had suffered such heavy losses, its High-Level officials would certainly investigate the matter. The Dojutsu Power of the Uchiha Clan's Sharingan could control the Nine-Tails, so Konoha's High-Level officials would definitely suspect the Uchiha Clan. Coupled with the fact that their relationship had never been good, life for the Uchiha Clan in Konoha Village was probably not easy now.
He mocked them inwardly, then stopped thinking about it. Everything ahead remained a field of white, with snow covering the entire Woods. However, he had come here many times and was extremely familiar with the place.
The Two People walked out of the Woods hand in hand, and an open clearing immediately appeared ahead. A pristine river lay not far from them. Although its banks were already covered in snow, many beautiful flowers still bloomed proudly atop the Snowfield, covered in snow. The plants of the Water Country had clearly adapted to the climate here.
"Ah!!!" At the sight of those beautiful flowers, Haku cheered and ran over with a delighted expression. Miao stood behind her and watched quietly, a faint smile appearing at the Corner of the Mouth.
"Miao, come over here!!!" Haku excitedly waved at Ye Wang. Looking at the flowers on the Snowfield, her excitement was unmistakable. A faint blush colored her lovely face, making her seem like a fairy among flowers.
"Yeah, yeah." Miao smiled helplessly and walked over. He looked at Haku's happy face, then at the flowers blooming proudly on the Snowfield. On an impulse, he picked a white flower that resembled crystal and gently tucked it into Haku's beautiful hair.
Haku immediately blushed and murmured softly, "Miao, what are you doing?" Haku's adorable appearance instantly made Miao laugh. Smiling, he said, "Isn't this nice? Haku is even prettier now."
Hearing Miao's praise, Haku's pretty face reddened further. But she seemed to remember something and blinked at him before saying with a smile, "Miao, let me show you something fun."
"Something fun?" Miao looked at Haku in confusion. How could I find something a six-year-old was interested in fun?
Haku slowly walked to the riverbank. Part of the river had already frozen over, while many white chunks of ice floated in the crystal-clear flowing water. Looking at the entire river gave one a feeling of tranquility, as though one's heart had been cleansed.
Haku slowly extended her hand toward the river. Then something astonishing happened. The flowing river water immediately began to writhe. A stream of clear, pure water condensed into a long shape and slowly rose from the river, winding and coiling through the air like a snake. It then swiftly flew into Haku's hand and condensed into a transparent water sphere. It looked incredibly magical.
"What do you think, Miao? It's pretty fun, right? I only discovered this strange ability a while ago." Haku spoke happily as she continuously played with the transparent water sphere in her hand, seemingly unable to put it down.
At the sight of this, Miao's expression changed. Without realizing it, he had activated his Sharingan. Three Black Tomoe immediately appeared within his scarlet pupils as he stared fixedly at the water sphere in Haku's hand.
"No hand seals. The Chakra in her body is extremely scarce and highly unstable. It clearly only appeared recently and has not undergone systematic refinement. That's right, this is a Kekkei Genkai!!!!" Miao's expression was grave, his fists clenched tightly. "I never expected Haku to possess a Kekkei Genkai as well. Haku's father does not seem to be a Ninja, and her mother..."
He silently deactivated his Sharingan, and his eyes immediately returned to being black as ink. Miao slowly walked forward and stood behind Haku. "Miao, what's wrong?" Haku had been playing happily when she suddenly noticed Miao behind her. She looked up at him in confusion. "What's wrong, Miao?"
Miao's expression was extremely grave as he slowly said in a deep voice, "Haku, you absolutely cannot let anyone know about this ability of yours!!! Do you understand? Not even your parents!!!"
It was Haku's first time seeing such a grave expression on Miao's face, and she was startled. The water sphere in her hand instantly burst, turning into a puddle that flowed onto the ground. She stood up and said fearfully, "Miao, what's wrong? Your expression is so scary!!!"
Miao froze for a moment, then the expression on his face relaxed. He gently placed both hands on Haku's shoulders and said very solemnly, "Remember what I said. You absolutely cannot let anyone discover this ability of yours!!! Only the Two People of us can know about it, understand? I'm begging you."
Seeing Miao like this, Haku immediately nodded hard. "Mm, I understand. Although I don't know why, I believe in Miao."
Hearing Haku's words, Miao smiled gently. He pulled Haku into his arms and said softly, "Thank You, Haku. No matter what happens, I will protect you!!!"
"Mm!" Haku's face instantly flushed red, and she nodded shyly. But at that moment, Bang!!! A faint sound reached their ears.
Hearing that sound, Miao's expression changed drastically.
