Lady Snow nodded without speaking.

This was Su Che's promise to her.

Her path as a Ghost Cultivator had been fraught with hardship. All her schemes and repeated arrangements had sought only one thing: to climb another level higher.

Now that Third Young Master Su was willing to open a path for her at his side, Lady Snow naturally would not refuse.

After a moment of silence, she turned and said calmly, "How about another few games of Go today?"

"Another day."

Su Che looked at Lady Snow. "You should set things in motion as soon as possible. I reviewed the military reports today. The rebel army's spearhead is less than a hundred li from Ci Prefecture City and is currently in Shanyin County."

The White-Turban Army had captured cities and seized land all the way here. The counties of Ci Prefecture had nearly all surrendered at the mere sound of their approach. Most county magistrates had followed Su Che's instructions and returned to Ci Prefecture, but some bolder ones had gone directly over to the White-Turban Army. Others, less fortunate, had simply been murdered by county assistants and registrars born of local gentry in their own counties.

The situation in Ci Prefecture had now deteriorated beyond repair.

Hearing the words "another day," Lady Snow could not help but flush crimson. She suddenly wondered whether making herself so cheap would cause Third Young Master Su to look down on her.

She was no unwed girl in her teens. Having spent many years as a Ghost Cultivator before turning to the Divine Path, she had gained a distinct understanding of the ways of the world and human feelings.

Yet she swiftly cast such thoughts aside. Since they were to become allies, they needed some foundation of mutual trust.

"Then I shall
