Gilgamesh sat on the Golden Throne, his arm somehow restored. He raised his wineglass toward the moon and swirled it. His crimson eyes seemed to catch something amusing through the wine's reflection of the moonlight, and a smile touched his lips.
"Whatever choices he makes in the future, even if they affect the course of all Human History, nothing he interferes with can produce a new branch. Standing on the main trunk, he has become an interloper who can neither create a divergence nor carry one forward."
"If he simply followed history's original course, it wouldn't matter. The other mongrels on that trunk would spawn countless branches and obscure this timeline."
