Sunlight spilled through the delicate windowpanes, bathing the room in a bright, peaceful glow.
The study was simply furnished, without a single luxury in sight. Only the books on the display shelves drew the eye, some new, some old.
"I forgot..."
The other two women had Watches from Reincarnation Space. He had given them out himself.
Su Lin knew perfectly well that bunch just wanted to watch the show. If their positions were reversed and he were the one enjoying the drama, he would at least find a way to lock the door.
He carried a heavy fruit basket, but the person he had come to visit was nowhere to be found. For now, he was alone in the room.
"Not all grimoires, then. Studying really is hard work."
He glanced at an open book on the wooden desk. Several kinds of stemmed plants had been sketched across its pages.
There were also glass vessels on the desk. One held soil, with a red seed set in the middle, apparently ready for cultivation.
Dappled light from the window fell across the books and vessels. The ink left on a sheet of white paper still had a fresh sheen; the girl had been taking notes here not long ago.
"Looks like she's still in the mood to improve herself."
The witch did not seem troubled by outside events. Or perhaps her emotions had settled over the past two days.
That made sense. There was no reason to believe in something so mysterious and far-fetched.
Su Lin regretted losing the chance to rub salt in the wound and have some fun.
Following the magic he sensed, Su Lin pulled a grimoire bearing a six-pointed star from the shelf. As he leafed through it, the Dimensional Magic recorded inside appeared as three-dimensional symbols.
