After getting into the car, Lu Qi still had a headache, not knowing how to argue his way out with Fury.
"Thinking about how to argue with me?" a voice came from behind him.
Lu Qi shook his head. "Dealing with people who can read minds is really annoying."
"You've met mind readers before?" Fury got up and sat beside Lu Qi.
Lu Qi rolled his eyes and could not be bothered to respond. With someone like Fury, the more he said, the more he exposed.
"Your origins are quite mysterious. You suddenly appeared in New York, then settled down in Hell's Kitchen, making a living by killing people." Seeing him remain silent, Fury changed the subject.
"I don't think those things are people," Lu Qi retorted.
"But you are human. You are not the law, and you are not God. Just because you have superpowers and that portal of yours, you think you have the right to judge them? Do you think you're Batman?"
"That's right. So what? I'm sorry for being human. Happy now?"
Lu Qi simply gave up playing along. This guy looked angry, but he was really just trying to get more information out of him.
"Enough of that. Now explain how you found Tony Stark." Fury suddenly let Lu Qi off the hook.
"It was nothing special. My ninjas found a group of armed men in the mountains, so I went over to take a look and found Tony Stark." Lu Qi turned his face away, unwilling to let Fury glean any more information from his expression.
Lu Qi suddenly remembered something. "By the way, you're not really Nick Fury, are you? Why would that old fox show up in front of someone who nearly caused havoc at S.H.I.E.L.D. last time?"
"You're a Skrull."
The Fury in front of him frowned. "What are you talking about? What Skrulls?"
"Stop pretending. I know more than you think. For example, your blood should be green, and there's Carol Danvers."
Nick Fury was about to say something, but the driver suddenly spoke.
"Enough. Get out first," the driver said abruptly, pulling the car over and shutting off some of the equipment.
The driver removed his wig and mask, revealing a bald Egghead underneath. Meanwhile, the Nick Fury beside him obediently got out of the car and disappeared into the woods.
"All right, Lu Qi. Now I have a lot to talk to you about."
"Including how you know such classified matters, and exactly how you found Tony Stark."
Lu Qi looked at him twice and thought for a moment. "Fine. Looks like I can't keep this act up anymore."
Crossing one leg over the other, Lu Qi stared at Fury... at the bald Egghead on top of Fury's head, and said, "Actually, I'm an Earthling who barely managed to return from space. Decades ago, aliens captured me and took me into the universe."
Keeping his face expressionless, Lu Qi fixed his gaze on Egghead's bald head without looking away and rapidly said without any body language, "Then, a few years ago, I met a Captain Marvel named Carol Danvers. She told me how to return, and she also told me some things about Earth."
Fury froze for a while, and the atmosphere fell silent. "How is Carol doing now?"
Lu Qi was stunned. Carol had not appeared in Avengers 3. How was he supposed to make this up?
As Fury's expression gradually turned suspicious, Lu Qi casually fabricated an answer. "She's still helping the Skrulls find somewhere to live, running around everywhere every day. I can't see her every day either, but..."
Seeing Fury's suspicious look, Lu Qi thought for a moment. "She misses her little cat very much. When I decided to come back, she even asked me to check how your eye was doing."
At the last sentence, Fury reflexively touched his eyepatch.
Fury was silent for a while before finally nodding. "All right. You can go."
Lu Qi turned and left, not expecting that he had actually managed to fool Fury this time.
"You don't have any ill intentions toward Earth, do you?" Fury suddenly called out.
"Of course not. I'm an Earthling too!"
"That's good. You should know that I can call Carol back at any time."
"Of course. That pager. By the way, have you really never used it even once all this time?"
Hearing that answer, Fury finally let down his guard. After all, only the two of them had been present when Carol gave him that thing.
"She told me not to call her with nonsense."
Without saying anything else, Lu Qi smoothly returned to his little home.
"Dealing with that old fox is annoying and exhausting!"
Lu Qi shook his head and opened the foundation of his livelihood: the Mining System.
The number of Shadow Ninjas had now reached over four hundred and seventy, mining 0.4 Energy per minute. He had thirty Blade Soldiers, mining 2 Energy per minute. That came to about 230 Energy per minute, with recovery also at around 230. After checking his savings, Lu Qi bought enough Ninja Soldiers to bring the total to five hundred.
It appeared: Stat Enhancement!
After checking the requirements, he found that this upgrade required 100,000 Energy. At the current rate, that meant three hundred minutes, or five hours. But Lu Qi still had some savings, enough to offset more than an hour.
Lu Qi thought about it, checked his balance, and simply watched ads to skip three hours. After waiting another half hour, he gathered 100,000 Energy and successfully enhanced himself.
After the enhancement, his physical abilities rose to eight times that of an ordinary person. Both mining speed and recovery speed doubled, reaching 480 and 480 respectively.
Stretching lazily, Lu Qi moved his body with satisfaction. Now that his capital had doubled again, he felt even more confident facing Egghead.
However, Egghead possessed many 084 items and an unknown amount of Hydra's leftover technology, so his strength still could not be underestimated.
Looking at the Ninja Soldiers, now priced at seventy Energy each, Lu Qi felt that life was becoming increasingly comfortable.
He could now create six Micro Dimensions a day. Flipping through the notebook The Ancient One had given him, he saw that there were still around thirty-odd Micro Dimension coordinates left. Once he used them up, he would probably have to ask The Ancient One for Small Dimension coordinates.
Seeing that this small dimension still contained over ten thousand Energy, Lu Qi waited more than twenty minutes to mine it dry before switching to a new dimension.
"Oh, I didn't expect there to be over a hundred thousand Energy!" Lu Qi said in surprise. He had originally thought this Micro Dimension would also contain less than one hundred thousand Energy.
The system suddenly issued a prompt: 'Enemies detected within the target dimension. Eliminate them, or the target dimension's Energy cannot be mined.'
Lu Qi froze. There were actually enemies inside the target dimension.
'Warning: The target dimension has connected to the Shadow Dimension. Organize a counterattack immediately!'
Lu Qi was still somewhat confused when he suddenly noticed that his maximum Energy was slowly decreasing!
Frowning, Lu Qi hurriedly entered the Shadow Dimension.
The Shadow Dimension now resembled a cube measuring over ten thousand cubic meters, but a crack had appeared at its top. Lu Qi was like a god within this space, so he flew to the crack and found several goblin-like creatures using strange devices to collect Dark Energy.
With a wave of Lu Qi's hand, the crack moved from the top to the ground. Over a hundred Shadow Ninjas appeared in the Dark Space and charged at the panicked enemies, whose path home had vanished.
Looking through the crack into the target dimension, Lu Qi found that its space was far larger than his own. Countless creatures were busily gathering Energy from surrounding spatial cracks.
Lu Qi's gaze sharpened. These creatures were not all goblin-like beings; there were other species as well.
With a wave of his hand, the Shadow Ninjas charged through the spatial crack and entered the target dimension.
Those weak creatures were no match for the ninjas, but some were stronger, capable of fighting Shadow Ninjas evenly or even defeating them.
Just then, streaks of dark blasts flew out from the corner, instantly scattering the Ninja Soldiers.
Inside the target dimension, a creature floated over to the crack and met Lu Qi's eyes.
"I didn't expect there to be a Dimension Lord within this Micro Dimension." The figure coated its throat in Dark Energy, producing strange ripples of Dark Energy. Yet through those ripples, Lu Qi understood what it meant.
With a flick of its hand, the figure fired a blast of Energy that scattered an approaching Shadow Ninja, then continued staring at Lu Qi.
"Turning Dark Energy into living creatures? How laughable. I'll gladly take all this fellow's Energy!"
The creature spoke mockingly, but soon realized something was wrong. After the Shadow Ninjas turned into Dark Energy, they did not remain in its dimension. Instead, they directly withdrew into Lu Qi's Dark Dimension, leaving it without the slightest benefit.
Lu Qi also noticed that his Dark Energy limit had not dropped, nor had his number of ninjas decreased. Wasn't that different from what it had said?
The other party also said in surprise:
"You can actually reclaim Dark Energy from someone else's dimension? How did you do that?"
Frowning as it looked at Lu Qi, the figure waved its hand, and tens of thousands of creatures appeared in its dimension, charging toward Lu Qi's dimension.
These creatures had all been transported from the Material World on its side. They were not like Shadow Ninjas, but that was exactly why it could boldly attack Lu Qi.
"No matter what secrets you possess, as long as I kill you, your Dark Dimension will return to nature!"
The figure laughed loudly, while the army behind it immediately engaged the Shadow Ninjas in the other dimension.
Looking at the vast mass of enemies, Lu Qi hurriedly had the Shadow Ninjas within his influence range turn into shadows and return to form a defensive line. The other Shadow Ninjas did their best to block the enemies before them, buying time for Lu Qi and the others.
After those Shadow Ninjas were besieged by enemies several times their number, Lu Qi's side successfully formed a battle line and slowly summoned the Shadow Ninjas who had previously been scattered.
Watching the enemies draw closer, Lu Qi kept thinking: Aside from the Dimension Lord on the other side, the individual strength of the ordinary enemies is inferior to my Ninja Soldiers, but their numbers are dozens of times greater. Looking at my remaining Energy, I can only summon a little over a hundred Shadow Ninjas. That won't change much. This is still far too passive.
Let's see how things go first. My ninjas neither live nor die, and they don't have stamina bars! Maybe they can slowly grind the enemy to death!
Watching the other side's troops charge toward them, Lu Qi could only have the ninjas prepare to meet the enemy.
