Hearing Yondu's words, Star-Lord knew his earlier feeling had been right. Yondu really had let them go on purpose.
But knowing Yondu as he did, Star-Lord couldn't understand why he would do that.
Beside Star-Lord, the rest of the team looked at him. "What should we say?"
Star-Lord set his questions aside for the moment and spoke into the communicator. "Yondu, this isn't the time for that. That warship came for the hundred million credits! We have a common enemy!"
Yondu stood on the bridge, tossing the credit voucher up and down in his hand. Every Ravager behind him had their eyes on it.
Their gazes followed the voucher up and down, and they kept swallowing. But the Yaka Arrow peeking out from Yondu's belt "by accident" kept them from trying anything.
Yondu considered it for a moment, then roared at the Ravagers behind him, "Boys, you hear that? Someone wants to steal our credits! Are we gonna let them?"
"Hell no!"
"We Ravagers are the ones who rob people! Now someone thinks they can rob us? Let's get 'em!"
Yondu grinned at his excited crew, then bellowed, "Everyone aboard your ships! Take 'em down! Once it's over, we'll find somewhere good and have ourselves a hell of a time!"
The Ravagers cheered and ran for the hangar.
Before long, Ravager ships streamed out of the warship, and its main cannon began to charge.
On the other side, Ebony Maw watched the movement across from him and slowly brought his fingers together.
"Futile resistance. Deploy the force field. Release the fleet!"
Cull Obsidian raised his weapon and glanced at Ebony Maw.
"Wait at the boarding rack. If I get the chance, I'll bring the warship alongside."
