Watching Fury walk out of the police station cursing under his breath, Natasha, disguised as a handsome young boy as she observed from the shadows, smiled.
"Such a drastic change in expression. Looks like that wasn't the real Fury."
The captain's voice came through the radio as well.
"Fine, Bucky. I'll give you ten dollars when we get back. Damn it, I've never won a bet."
"You're still too naive."
Bucky stood atop a tall building, using binoculars to watch the crowds below.
Beside him, Barton focused his attention on the dark alleys.
"I don't see anyone matching the target's description on my side. What about you?"
"No."
"Nothing here either."
After receiving their responses, Barton frowned. "Looks like our plan failed?"
Hearing that, Natasha reassured him, "That's normal. Fury going to the police station this time wasn't like when he went to City Hall before—it made the news. The people watching from the shadows probably didn't know about it, so they didn't show up."
"Then why didn't we publicize it beforehand?"
The captain asked bluntly. Natasha could not help chuckling, making the young girl peeking at her from nearby blush furiously.
"If the news came from us, the attacker might see through our plan. That's why we borrowed someone else's hand."
"Whose hand?"
The captain did not quite understand. He had experienced countless battles on the front lines and could certainly be called battle-hardened.
But he had never had experience playing games with others from the rear based on just one or two pieces of information.
Natasha explained, "Before S.H.I.E.L.D. was disbanded, we had a very high authority priority, but that also offended plenty of people, such as the FIB."
"They've always been deeply hostile toward us and have no fondness for our boss, Fury. But if they learned
