The Medal

"Captain? Are you ready? I've got bad news. Can you—"

Fury called back, but a figure suddenly lunged from behind him and knocked him unconscious.

"Fury?"

Steve heard the noise and hurried out, but Fury was nowhere in sight.

The sight of Fury's disappearance instantly put Steve on edge.

This wasn't some decoy or cheap copy. That was the real Fury!

"Something's wrong! Everybody out!"

Steve shouted to his teammates, scanning the area.

But it was night, and everything around him was pitch-black. How was he supposed to see anything?

Fury had vanished all the same. That meant an enemy was hiding somewhere in the darkness.

The thought made Steve even more uneasy.

"If you've got flares or anything else that gives off light, bring them out! It's too dark out here!"

Steve called to his teammates again. Just then, a double-bladed sword came slashing at him from behind.

Hearing the sharp rush of air, Steve instinctively raised his shield to block. The blow sent him flying, and he slammed into the ground.

He looked up just in time to see a cloaked figure vanish into the darkness again.

Black Widow heard the commotion and came out first. She drew a flare gun and fired a flare into the sky.

Dim red light washed over the forest, greatly extending their field of vision. Steve felt a little calmer.

The others finished preparing and hurried out, taking up positions to watch their surroundings.

Barton and Hawkeye both spotted a rise that overlooked the entire battlefield and headed for it at the same time.

Noticing each other's move, they stopped in unison.

After exchanging a glance, Hawkeye yielded first and gestured for Barton to take the ideal position.
