Zombie Rabbit

Yu Xian's physical abilities had been improving almost every day.

His five senses had improved along with them. Even without using Blood of Silver to enhance his sense of smell, he could now easily distinguish many scents. He was especially, extremely sensitive to smells related to blood.

The girl downstairs seemed to notice Yu Xian watching her. Her pace suddenly quickened, and she entered the teaching building in the blink of an eye.

"That's Wang Qian, from the Witch Clan. She seems to be very good at curses. Don't you two go trying to flirt with her," Chen Ling said at that moment.

Zhang Shou said in shock, "Chen Ling, are you really not a superhuman? How does it seem like there's nothing you don't know?"

"Doggie, you've changed. You don't even call me Your Majesty anymore." Chen Ling put on an unfathomable expression, patted Zhang Shou on the shoulder, and spoke meaningfully.

Zhang Shou immediately changed his expression and smiled ingratiatingly. "Then, Your Majesty, are you a superhuman?"

"You guess!" Chen Ling replied with a mysterious smile.

In truth, she simply loved gossip and had joined the group chats of many student clubs.

Yu Xian could tell whether someone was a superhuman by their scent. He merely smiled without answering Zhang Shou's suspicion and quietly watched the students below.

"Hi, handsome!"

At that moment, a girl with an innocent yet seductive appearance suddenly looked up and greeted Yu Xian.

She had short wine-red hair, and a tail extended beneath her skirt.

Yu Xian merely gave a slight nod without saying anything.

This girl was one of the people Jin Sheng had asked Zhang Shou and him to keep an eye on: Hu Tuer.

She had Nine-Tailed Fox bloodline. Her family ran a bathhouse, and her father, Hu Weijie, was a well-known cleaner in the underworld. If anyone was most likely to cause trouble, her father definitely counted as one.

However, there was nothing wrong with Hu Tuer's scent today.

If her father had really done something in secret, then as long as he had been in contact with Hu Tuer, Yu Xian could find clues through the scent on her.

Until the school bell rang, none of the other students seemed to have any problems. The only suspicious one was Wang Qian of the Witch Clan.

Night fell.

Zhang Shou drove while Yu Xian sat in the passenger seat, knitting a sweater.

"7:30 p.m. Codename Salty Fish, codename Dead Doctor, beginning patrol now." Zhang Shou tapped his phone to open the Public Security Bureau's patrol app, then focused on driving.

There were very few vehicles on the roads near Silver City's walls, and not a single person could be seen on either sidewalk.

The car followed the patrol route for an hour. They did not see any superhuman animals, nor even a single ordinary animal. Zhang Shou yawned boredly. Seeing Yu Xian still intently knitting his sweater, he complained, "I thought night patrols would be exciting, but this is really boring. At this rate, I'm afraid I'll fall asleep."

"It's fine. Once you fall asleep, I'll shoot you. You probably haven't died today yet, right?" Yu Xian said with a smile.

Whenever Zhang Shou's status refreshed, his day-night schedule would reverse. Because his skill recorded his status in the morning, reviving was equivalent to waking up after a good night's sleep, and his energy would be restored as well.

Of course, if he stayed up until tomorrow morning, he would probably have to sleep all day.

"Wow, Salty Fish, when did you become so vicious?" Hearing Yu Xian's utterly inhuman remark, Zhang Shou pretended to be horrified.

"Stop the car," he said.

The two opened their doors, got out, and walked to the right side of the road.

In the roadside grass, a two-meter-long venomous snake with a drill growing from its head had already been sliced in half. Its lower body was still writhing.

"One merit point secured." Yu Xian first took a photo with his phone, then retrieved a recovery bag from the back seat and used tongs to place the venomous snake inside.

Zhang Shou shone a powerful flashlight through the grass while holding a gun in his other hand, ready to fire at any moment.

"No need to look. There's only this one venomous snake here. I have no idea how it got into the city," Yu Xian said with a smile.

It really was strange.

A fifteen-meter-high wall had been built around Silver City.

There were military camps outside the walls as well. By all rights, these animals should have had no way of bypassing both to enter the city.

Yet in reality, animals kept appearing from who knew where, as if they had materialized out of thin air.

But it was not that strange either. Many people lived dozens of stories up in high-rise buildings, yet cockroaches still appeared there. No one knew where those cockroaches came from.

Perhaps animals could always find a way to survive.

The two got back into the car and continued driving. About half an hour later, a black shadow darted out of the grass, and Zhang Shou slammed on the brakes.

They simultaneously rushed out of the car and started chasing after the shadow.

"A rabbit, possibly Insect Rank. I'll go on ahead!" Yu Xian immediately accelerated after saying that, leaving Zhang Shou behind in an instant.

Zhang Shou ran for a while before finally stopping, panting heavily. He complained, "When we get back, I'm eating rabbit meat!"

"There's another one?"

Zhang Shou's eyes widened at once, and he turned to look behind him.

Across the road was more grass. At the end of the grass was a river, beyond which lay a forest, stretching onward to the city wall.

"Where did this rabbit come from?"

Zhang Shou muttered to himself, then started walking back.

He was determined to look around and see whether there was a burrow somewhere in the grass.

On the other side, the rabbit was fast, but Yu Xian was faster.

The distance between them steadily shrank. A trace of Blood Energy appeared in Yu Xian's hand, and with a flick of his finger, a silver thread wrapped around the Blood Energy shot out. In the blink of an eye, it pierced the rabbit ahead. The silver thread then rapidly twisted, slicing apart all the rabbit's bones, tendons, and flesh.

Blood Energy had many uses, and he had been researching it all along.

Just now, he had used Blood Energy to increase the silver thread's kinetic energy, making it fly faster and hit harder.

"That feeling just now... was a little off."

Yu Xian looked at the rabbit, which was still twitching, and frowned slightly. He slowly approached the fallen rabbit and flipped it over with a silver thread. It had two fangs and emitted a dense aura of death.

A zombie rabbit!

Yu Xian froze for a moment, then hurriedly bound it more tightly with silver thread. If this thing bit an ordinary person, it would be troublesome.

He carried the rabbit back and saw Zhang Shou rummaging through the grass beside the road. He stepped forward and asked, "What are you looking for?"

Yu Xian was stunned. There was another one?

He hurried to the car, took a corpse bag covered in talismans from the back seat, stuffed the zombie rabbit inside, and tied it shut before immediately running back.

Normally, he did not like using Blood of Silver to enhance his sense of smell. The mortal world was full of foul odors, and he could not withstand all kinds of stench.

But he had to use it now. Otherwise, it would be troublesome if the zombie rabbit bit someone.

Especially since some people, after being bitten, would not immediately seek a doctor. They always clung to wishful thinking, believing they could save themselves, only to harm others and themselves instead and cause a terrible disaster.
