Background and Story Role

Forbidden Fruit and the Seven-Day Ordeal

Zhang Shou was an ordinary seventeen-year-old in Silver City until he found a glowing Forbidden Fruit in his toilet, rinsed it, and ate it. Believing that asking for “a system” was a modest wish, he awakened the Super Nanny System—to his initial horror, since he had hoped to become a Sword Immortal instead. 17

The system gave him extraordinary healing and survival abilities but did not increase his physical strength. After the official examination, he was diagnosed with the Seven-Day Life-and-Death Cycle Ordeal: his body naturally progresses from age seventeen to seventy-seven over seven days before dying, while his first death each day resets him to the condition recorded at system activation. Excessive skill use accelerates the cycle. 20

Initially devastated by the cost of his power, Zhang used Healing Spell to treat a scalded child. Remembering the casualties of the Aberrant Insect Incident, he realized that he had wanted to become a doctor so that he could save people. He subsequently spent a day treating hundreds of terminally ill patients, disabled classmates, and infants with genetic illnesses despite visibly aging into a frail old man. 19

Zhang became a dependable support combatant during Qilin operations. He healed Gan Jiang and Mo Ye after their injuries, received a Second-Class Merit Medal, and obtained a Storage Ring. 33 51

His system advanced through accumulated skill activations. After missions with Blue Bird, he gained Mental Healing, enabling him to restore Su Zhuo from a Namoran-induced vegetative state. Shattering the Void

After centuries of cultivation, Zhang attempted Shattering the Void before Jin Sheng and Cheng Pi. He passed the first trial by cleaving apart the Heavenly Dao’s descending golden arm. 616

The second trial required him to defeat the Heavenly Dao Incarnation within an exact defensive cycle. Zhang endured its natural-force barrage with Blade Aura Tyrant Body, used Charged Heaven-Cleaving Slash to trigger its invincibility, then destroyed it with his second fully charged strike. 617 618

After leaving the Zhen Realm, Zhang’s compressed power unfolded so violently that his perceptions and thoughts involuntarily cut saber marks into nearby matter. Under Little Nora’s warning, he regained control and identified his transformed state as a Blade-Heart Dao Body rather than a Mind-Reflection Body. 619 620

He later investigated the Demonic Fall Phenomenon, relying on Willblade Aura to resist mental distortion. Zhang fought Apollo in open space, where neither combatant could safely risk destroying a constructed world. He used the life-and-death-based Absolute Blade techniques and Life Sacrifice to cut through Apollo’s immense artificial sun. 712

Later, Zhang endured days of combat against Quan Juehua, growing stronger despite catastrophic injuries. He cooperated with the returned Apollo against their shared enemy, then expended all of his remaining power through the Great Flame Heaven-Burning Saber in Absolute Blade—Sever Awareness. The strike burned through Quan’s Laws and soul, but Zhang himself turned to ash. 731 733
