Kaku sat on a protruding rock, holding a Den Den Mushi as he spoke with the others.
The call was brief, ending after only a few minutes. Kaku put away the Den Den Mushi and jumped down from the rock.
"Mr. Kaku, why are we treating that red-haired brat?"
Apoo walked over, voicing his dissatisfaction.
"I asked around. That brat is wild and unruly, and he definitely isn't someone willing to live under another's thumb. This is a complete waste of resources."
Kaku glanced at Apoo.
"These are the leader's orders. The leader will be coming in a few days. Before he arrives, that red-haired brat cannot die. The leader is interested in his abilities."
"Ah bah bah bah, the leader really is merciful."
Apoo gave an awkward smile, his piano-key teeth glinting coldly beneath the moonlight.
Much kinder than I am. If it were me, I wouldn't leave someone like that alive. Potential enemies should be eliminated as early as possible."
He shook his head and turned back to continue sorting the spoils.
"I'll get back to work, then. Are we keeping watch tonight?"
"Yes. You'll take the first shift. I'll wake Page One at two in the morning to relieve you."
