The snow lay unusually deep today. The weight bent the branches of the conifers in the forest, but a tremor from some unseen force shook powdery snow from them.

The blazing sun hid behind lead-gray clouds, leaving only a sickly white light to seep through the gaps.

"Rankyaku!"

Kalifa's fierce shout tore through the forest's silence. Her long right leg whipped through the air, sending a precisely aimed, ten-meter crescent slash through the falling snow toward the tall figure opposite her.

Monet stood her ground, her waist-length green hair flying in the gust. Facing the vicious attack, she raised her right leg, crackling with electricity, and kicked from a distance.

A denser vacuum slash burst from her toes. The instant the two attacks collided, Kalifa's Rankyaku shattered like glass and vanished.

Monet's slash kept going, hurtling toward Kalifa.

Kalifa crossed her arms and projected her Armament Haki into a barrier.

The slash cut through the Armament Haki, tearing the barrier like flimsy paper. Blood sprayed from both of Kalifa's arms, and she flew backward like a kite with a severed string. She smashed through tree after tree, scattering wood chips and blood across the snow.

"Sister!"

Alpha cried out. Her body turned into a human-shaped mass of snow, and in that fluid form, she surged forward at astonishing speed, reaching for Monet.

Monet frowned slightly.

For some reason, seeing the girl use the Snow-Snow Fruit always stirred an inexplicable revulsion in her.

Electric Blue activated. Blinding blue light erupted from every inch of Monet's skin, and crackling arcs of lightning coiled around her. She vanished, leaving only a wisp of smoke and the smell of scorched air.
