As the two spoke, a strange cry came from above the cliff.

The sound was shrill and piercing, neither bird nor beast. It collided and echoed between the rock walls, forming unsettling layers of reverberation.

Kalifa immediately looked up. Her Observation Haki spread outward like ripples, and within her range of perception, a large number of living creatures were diving down at astonishing speed.

She tightened her grip on the specially made long whip coiled around her waist, ready to strike.

The savage beasts descended from the sky. Their bodies resembled lizards enlarged several times over, covered in bluish-gray scales, their muscular limbs packed with explosive power.

Yet atop their necks sat rooster-like heads. Their crimson combs quivered like flames, their beaks twisted into serrated maws, upper and lower beaks interlocking like animal traps. Their claws gleamed with chilling light beneath the sparse sunlight.

The first monster crashed to the ground, its claws sinking into rotten wood and sending splinters flying everywhere.

Then came the second, the third... dozens, hundreds of bird-like beasts beat their wings and landed on the surrounding shipwrecks, surrounding Dawn and Kalifa completely.

They stamped their claws restlessly, their beaks snapping together with clacking impacts. Their scarlet eyes locked tightly onto the two below, as though they intended to utterly intimidate their prey.

Dawn stood where he was and glanced at Kalifa.

"Leave it to you. It's a good chance to get familiar with your new ability."

Kalifa stepped forward and flicked her right hand. The long whip slid from her waist like a venomous snake striking from its den, carving an arc through the air as its tip cracked sharply.
