Background

Obito was a Ninja Academy student whose strongest early ambitions were becoming Hokage, earning Rin Nohara’s affection, and proving himself superior to Kakashi Hatake. He was already close to Rin and trained alongside civilian-born classmates despite the Uchiha’s usual social separation. 5 25

His first Sharingan awakening was engineered by Ye. Ye planted a wooden carving resembling Rin, made it appear to have been murdered, and used a disguised voice to call Obito’s name. Obito planned to reveal his new eye during Academy sparring, but his concern for Rin distracted him so completely that Might Guy knocked him unconscious with a single flying kick.
