Ever since becoming pregnant, she had made a conscious effort to keep her phone away from her whenever possible. It probably made no difference, but mothers were always extra cautious, guarding against anything that might possibly harm their babies.

So she turned up both her ringtone and media volume to avoid missing any important calls or messages.
