Background / History

The Wu Tribe originates from Pangu. Ordinary Wu Tribe beings are born from the blood pool inside Pangu Hall, while the Twelve Ancestral Witches were transformed from twelve drops of Pangu’s essence blood. The Ancestral Witches therefore share the tribe’s origin but are fundamentally distinct from its other members. Xingtian, Wu Xian, Kuafu, and Houyi belong to a later batch born from the blood pool. 215

Early on, the tribe coexisted with great cultivators and their surrounding domains, since food was plentiful and those cultivators generally remained within their Daoist Abodes. Zifu Continent was the principal exception: its repeated provocations placed it in direct opposition to the Wu Tribe. 55

The tribe’s conflict with Eastern Lord Duke’s Celestial Court escalated over time, compounded by Extraterrestrial Devils influencing troubled beings to challenge the Wu Tribe. Unlike other races, Wu Tribe members do not cultivate Primordial Spirits; the Sha Qi in their bodies also harms Extraterrestrial Devils that attempt to invade their minds. 173 361

Under Wu Xian’s direction, the Wu Tribe began broad reforms modeled on lessons drawn from the Demon Race: elite training, a Battle Division, lawmaking and enforcement, logistics, and specialized leadership. Xingtian was selected to lead the Battle Division. 222

Society and Organization

  • Pangu Hall — ancestral center containing the blood pool from which ordinary Wu Tribe beings are born. 215
  • Twelve tribes — the tribe is divided among the Twelve Ancestral Witches; each tribe later sends Great Witches to serve under Wu Xian’s reforms. 218 222
  • Twelve Ancestral Witches — the tribe’s highest authorities and principal source of its prestige and strength. 215 222
  • Great Witches — powerful members beneath the Ancestral Witches, including Xingtian and Wu Xian. 215
  • Battle Division — reform-era elite force overseen by Xingtian. 222

Abilities & Skills

Physical Constitution

Wu Tribe members possess formidable physical bodies and contain Laws within themselves rather than relying on Magical Power or Primordial Spirits.

  • Their bodies contain innate Sha Qi, which makes them resistant to interference by Extraterrestrial Devils. 361
  • Their physical form is comparatively less constrained by intangible concepts such as Destiny and Causality. 504
  • The tribe’s chief traditional advantage is its physical strength. 504
  • Wu Humans born from Wu Tribe–Human unions lack the Wu Tribe’s innate Sha Qi and can cultivate both the Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique and the Immortal Dao. 425

Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique

The tribe’s foundational inheritance and a major body-cultivation method.

  • Wu Xian reached the Profound Skill Seventh Revolution only after a long period, entering the ranks of the Great Witches despite being physically frail. 215
  • Xingtian cultivated it rapidly and became the foremost Wu Tribe combatant beneath the Twelve Ancestral Witches. 215
  • The complete technique was exchanged with Emperor Jun for his guidance to Wu Xian. 219 221
  • Wu Humans are capable of cultivating the technique. 425

Witchcraft

A combat system created by Wu Xian that uses the Laws within Wu Tribe bodies in place of Magical Power. 216

  • Can imitate spell-like effects used by other Primordial beings. 216
  • Wu Xian demonstrated it by producing five elemental dragons of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. 215
  • Its power can substantially enhance a Great Witch’s combat ability; Houtu judged Wu Xian’s full-strength attack comparable to Xingtian’s attacks. 215
  • Not every member can directly mobilize the Laws in their body; ordinary members require specific movements to draw those Laws out. 216
  • Wu Xian taught selected members across the twelve tribes and encouraged them to develop additional forms of Witchcraft. 218

Witch Curse

A hidden attack method created by Wu Xian alongside Witchcraft.

  • Its attacks leave no visible trace during execution. 216
  • Wu Xian demonstrated it by inflicting a wound on Houtu’s hand without launching an apparent offensive technique. 216
  • Its use can injure or burden the caster; Wu Xian bled from the mouth after his demonstration. 216
  • Wu Xian was appointed to lead the development and teaching of both Witchcraft and Witch Curses. 217

Twelve Heavens Godly Devil Annihilation Formation

The Wu Tribe’s defining large-scale formation, jointly controlled by the Twelve Ancestral Witches.

  • Can summon a Pangu phantom when all twelve Ancestral Witches are present. 85
  • Clashed with Eastern Lord Duke’s Ten Thousand Immortals Formation, initially ending in a draw that weakened both sides. 85
  • Without one Ancestral Witch, it cannot summon the Pangu phantom and must rely on the formation’s own power. 416
  • Led by the Incarnation of Emperor Jun as the twelfth Ancestral Witch, it destroyed the Celestial Court’s Ten Thousand Immortals Formation in a single strike. 435

Relationships

  • Twelve Ancestral Witches — supreme leaders and essence-blood descendants of Pangu; they command the tribe’s twelve branches and formation. 215
  • Wu Xian — Great Witch, reform leader, and developer of Witchcraft and Witch Curse; later serves as Celestial Emperor after the tribe takes control of the Celestial Court. 217 504
  • Xingtian — War God and strongest Great Witch beneath the Twelve Ancestral Witches; leads the Battle Division and serves as the tribe’s primary combatant. 215 222 505
  • Houtu / Lady Pingxin — former Ancestral Witch who becomes Pingxin of the Underworld; agrees to protect migrating Wu Tribe members in the Netherworld. 390 426
  • Emperor Jun — occasional adviser, bargaining partner, and strategic collaborator; his incarnation later becomes the tribe’s hidden twelfth Ancestral Witch for the decisive battle. 220 394 435
  • Celestial Court — long-standing rival whose forces repeatedly clash with the Wu Tribe over the Primordial Continent. 85 175 361
  • Human Race — sheltered by the Wu Tribe; later intermarriage produces Wu Humans and preserves the tribe’s bloodline. 375 425

Story Role / Major Arcs

Conflict with Zifu Continent and the Celestial Court

Zifu Continent’s continual provocations began the Wu Tribe’s sustained opposition to Eastern Lord Duke. The tribe demonstrated its straightforward culture when Dijiang proposed a sparring match with Emperor Jun immediately after receiving him warmly. 55 65

The Wu Tribe repeatedly confronted the Celestial Court with the Twelve Heavens Godly Devil Annihilation Formation. Its Pangu phantom matched Eastern Lord Duke’s Ten Thousand Immortals Formation during their first major formation clash. 85

Wu Xian’s Reforms

Wu Xian, initially overlooked because of his frail body and slow cultivation, earned the Ancestral Witches’ trust through Witchcraft and Witch Curse. He was entrusted with teaching both arts and later sought Emperor Jun’s guidance on why the Demon Race was powerful. 215 217 220

After receiving that guidance, Wu Xian organized sweeping reforms: a Battle Division, elite cultivation, legal administration, enforcement, logistics, and specialized Great Witch overseers. The tribe temporarily abandoned territory to gain time for these changes. 222 231

War, Sage Pressure, and Protection of the Human Race

Sage Taiqing’s support for the Celestial Court exposed the Wu Tribe’s lack of a Sage-level protector, forcing its leaders to act more cautiously. Wu Xian opposed a reckless confrontation with a Sage, warning that it would cost countless Wu Tribe lives. 350

Even while disadvantaged by the absence of Houtu, the remaining eleven Ancestral Witches sheltered the Human Race and encouraged intermarriage between Humans and Wu Tribe members. 416 425

Decline, Migration, and the Decisive Battle

After Houtu became Lady Pingxin and severed her ties with the tribe, Wu Xian sought her protection for vulnerable Wu Tribe members. The tribe migrated most of its population through the Blood Sea into the Netherworld before its final confrontation with the Celestial Court. 390 426 429

The hidden twelfth Ancestral Witch—the Incarnation of Emperor Jun—enabled the complete formation to return. Under his leadership, the Twelve Heavens Godly Devil Annihilation Formation annihilated the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation and killed Eastern Lord Duke, leaving only a wisp of his Primordial Spirit. 435

The Twelve Ancestral Witches ultimately fell, but the tribe preserved most of its people and retained a future through the Netherworld migration and Wu Human bloodline. 425 522

Control of the Celestial Court

Under Wu Xian’s rule, the Wu Tribe later seized the Celestial Court and placed its members in official positions. Its aggressive dominance—including capturing other beings for food—provoked the Dragon, Phoenix, Qilin, and other races into a united attack. 504 505

Trivia

  • The Wu Tribe’s connection to Pangu is central to its identity; its members consistently react with reverence when Father God Pangu is mentioned. 522
  • Only a Wu Tribe bloodline can contain and stir the Pangu aura within Mount Buzhou. 407
  • Despite being born second from the blood pool among his generation, Wu Xian was long considered one of the weakest Great Witches before creating Witchcraft. 215
  • The tribe’s ordinary members initially resisted the order to migrate before the decisive battle because they wished to fight alongside the Ancestral Witches. 429
