Background

Charlos was originally an ordinary man from Earth. After being crushed by a falling submarine while buying food, he awakened in the body of a young Celestial Dragon in Mary Geoise. He quickly identified the date as Sea Circle Calendar Year 1498, immediately after Gol D. Roger’s execution and the beginning of the Great Pirate Era. 1

As the favored grandson of the Rosy Family patriarch, Charlos occupies a politically important position within the family. The patriarch considers him the Rosy Family’s sole candidate capable of joining the God’s Knights, creating lasting resentment from Saint Rosward, who expects to inherit the family leadership. 1 5

While initially willing to enjoy the privileges of his new status, Charlos reacts uneasily to the Rosy Family’s casual brutality toward slaves. He chooses the enslaved twins Amira and Amina, removes their collars, has their wounds treated, and promises to erase their Celestial Dragon Hoof Marks if a method is ever found. Charlos visits Sabaody to acquire supplies for his planned voyage. He has Amira and Amina defeat pirates who refuse to kneel, purchases a Devil Fruit without opposition, and wins a little mermaid at auction before ordering Akali to destroy her explosive collar and releasing her into the sea. 7 8 9 10

His bet with Shalria tests whether strangers would help an apparently ordinary child without knowing she is a Celestial Dragon. The experiment fails when pirates attempt to sell Shalria and bystanders refuse to intervene, leading Charlos to postpone his voyage and pursue further training. 10 11

Stillhunt Island Training

Charlos, Shalria, Akali, Amira, and Amina undergo two years of special training on Stillhunt Island. Black Crow strips them of their privileges and forces them to endure combat, hunger, and survival without outside resources. 11 12

After the training period, Charlos chooses to continue traveling with Amira and Amina, while Shalria departs to join the Marines and pursue pirates independently. 13

Conflict with the Hungry Wolf Pirates

After learning that the Hungry Wolf Pirates have raided villages, Charlos secretly engineers the destruction of their ship and confronts Captain Hungry Wolf at the docks. He defeats the captain in direct combat with Armament Haki while Amina hunts down the fleeing crew. 14 15

Journey to the West Blue

Charlos travels toward the West Blue to seek a way to help Amina become stronger. Along the route, Amira and Amina destroy the Gray Fin Pirates after they attack his ship. 17 18

At Reverse Mountain, Charlos meets Crocus and Laboon. By revealing that Brook remains alive, he gives Laboon renewed hope and persuades the whale to stop ramming the Red Line. 19 20

Velocia Kingdom

Upon reaching the Velocia Kingdom, Charlos intervenes when traffickers pursue a frightened girl. After the traffickers claim to be protected by Earl Baron, their leader is assassinated before he can reveal more, indicating a larger conspiracy within the kingdom. 21
