Golden sunlight spilled over the stone pillars of the Amazon council hall. Queen Hippolyta sat high on her throne, her brow heavy with worry.

Diana, Wonder Woman, stood in the center of the hall with her divine sword in hand.

Around her stood the Amazons' finest warriors—General Antiope, Captain Philippus, Artemis, and the others—all wearing grave expressions.

"Apokolips's fleet has already crossed our barrier," Diana said solemnly.

The Mirror of Truth unfolded in her palm, displaying the war fortress of the dark lord Darkseid.

The Apokolips Mothership was approaching Earth's orbit. "Their Parademon legions are assembling, and our allies..."

"The Justice League still hasn't responded?"

General Antiope frowned, her hand resting on her sword hilt.

"Superman is missing, Batman is still investigating, and Cyborg's systems have been infected by an Apokolips virus."

Diana shook her head. "We can't wait for reinforcements."

Queen Hippolyta slowly rose, her robes falling around her, her gaze blazing.

"Themyscira has never fallen to foreign invaders in three thousand years, but this time..."

She looked into the distance, as though she could see through the clouds to the approaching darkness.

"Darkseid's power far exceeds that of any enemy we have ever faced."

Captain Philippus stepped forward. "Your Majesty, can our magical barrier withstand Apokolips's technology?"

"Zeus's ward still holds, but it won't last."

Hippolyta sighed. "Once the barrier breaks, Apokolips's Boom Tubes will tear straight through our defenses."

Artemis tightened her grip on her battle-axe.

"Then we strike first! Instead of sitting here waiting for destruction, we should gather every warrior, charge into a Boom Tube, and go straight for Darkseid!"

"Reckless!"

Antiope sharply cut her off. "A charge without a strategy will only get us all killed."

Silence fell over the hall, broken only by the crackling of the torches.
