Clark's Battle Against Shazam

"Clark! We need to talk!"

Batman's voice sounded especially hoarse amid the aftermath of the explosion.

Superman hovered in midair, the red glow in his eyes intensifying. "You promised you'd protect her."

His voice was cold. "And you killed her."

Whoosh!

Heat Vision suddenly shot out. Shazam instantly flashed in front of Batman, crossing both arms to take the attack head-on.

Golden divine markings lit up across his skin, and his magical shield collided with the Heat Vision in a blinding shower of sparks.

"Go!"

Shazam turned and shouted at Batman, "Go do what you have to do!"

Batman quickly retreated, vanishing into the shadows.

Superman was just about to pursue him when Shazam shot into the sky and blocked his path.

"Clark, listen to me!" Shazam held both hands up, signaling a truce.

"Lois's death was an accident. None of us wanted this to happen."

"Lies." Superman cut him off, strange ripples spreading through the red light in his eyes.

"My ship's AI recorded all the data." He slowly raised a hand.

"You deliberately lured the Parademons into attacking the Daily Planet."

Xiao Han somehow produced a handful of melon seeds and sat leisurely on a collapsed beam. "This melon's definitely ripe."

Diana held her divine sword and looked at him hesitantly. "Are we really not going to intervene?"

"What's the rush?" Xiao Han cracked open a melon seed shell.

"The real show has only just begun."

Joker crouched behind them, his green hair blown into a mess by the shockwaves. "Aha! You're actually watching the show?"

He laughed nervously. "I love it!"

High in the sky, Shazam was still trying to reason with him. "Listen to me, Clark. We really didn't know Lois would be inside!"

Superman stopped wasting words. Red light erupted from his eyes again.
