Background / History

Adoption of Qian Chen

Snow Empress and Ice Empress find the newborn Qian Chen half-buried in snow in the Far North. Snow Empress notices that his survival is abnormal: he possesses unusually strong vitality and faint bloodline pressure that affects even her. Concerned that his unknown origins could bring trouble, she initially decides to leave him 1 2.

His crying changes her decision. She returns, picks him up, and agrees to take him in “temporarily.” In their ice cavern, she identifies his name from a jade token hidden in his swaddling clothes and patiently feeds him milk obtained from a nursing Ice Devil Tiger 2.

Raising Him in the Far North

Over the next six years, Snow Empress teaches Qian Chen to walk, read, and cultivate. When he first calls her “Sister Snow,” she holds him for an entire day. Her attempts at discipline frequently give way to affection, although she checks him for injuries and warns him against confronting dangerous Soul Beasts alone 3 4.

At six, she conducts his Martial Soul awakening with an ice-crystal formation prepared by Ice Empress. His first Martial Soul, the Heavenly Snow Woman, matches her own true form in appearance and aura. Because she is the only true Heavenly Snow Woman born since the continent’s beginning, the manifestation makes her question whether their meeting was connected to his unusual Martial Soul 4.

Letting Him Leave

When twelve-year-old Qian Chen accepts an invitation to Skywater Academy, Snow Empress supports his departure despite her reluctance. She explains that he is human and cannot remain sheltered in the Far North forever. Recognizing his lack of experience with human society, she asks Ice Empress to accompany him while she remains behind because the Far North needs her 9.

She watches his departure from a distant snow peak and wishes for his safe return. Qian Chen, meanwhile, resolves to become strong enough to free both Empresses from Soul Beast lifespan limits and heavenly tribulations 9 10.

Reunion in Heaven Dou City

Daily messages from Ice Empress do not relieve Snow Empress’s loneliness. Eventually, she announces that she is going to Heaven Dou City to see Qian Chen and leaves the Far North. She arrives after his confrontation with Zhao Wuji, descending through snowfall and ice stairs before admitting that she came because she was worried and wanted to see him 36 38.

Qian Chen gives her the Aromatic Silk Beauty, selected to purify her bloodline and stabilize her origin. Their reunion also changes her understanding of their relationship: she increasingly seeks his companionship and recognizes that he is no longer merely the child she raised 39 49 55.

Defending Qian Chen

Snow Empress intervenes when Tang Hao prepares his ninth Soul Skill against Qian Chen. After checking whether Qian Chen is hurt, she cuts through Tang Hao’s attack and severely wounds him with a single Emperor Sword strike. Tang Hao resorts to Ring Detonation to free Tang San and the Shrek group before retreating 47 48.

After her eight-hundred-thousand-year breakthrough, her pressure helps deter Yu Yuanzhen during his confrontation with Qian Chen. She remains nearby while Qian Chen proves that he can defeat the clan leader himself 54 56 57.

Star Dou Great Forest

Snow Empress accompanies Qian Chen and the Skywater Academy group into the Star Dou Great Forest. When the Titan Giant Ape continues resisting after attacking Qian Chen, she personally subdues it and warns that another attempt will cost it its Soul Ring and Soul Bone 58 60.

Xiong Jun then challenges her authority and threatens to take Qian Chen away. Snow Empress defeats him, breaks three of his claws, and forces him into a crater. She spares him because Qian Chen has not asked her to kill him and releases him at Qian Chen’s request 60 61.

When Di Tian later approaches their camp, she immediately stands between him and Qian Chen. The encounter proceeds peacefully, and she accompanies Qian Chen and Ice Empress toward the Lake of Life following Gu Yuena’s invitation 62 63.

Appearance

  • Build: Tall and slender, with a narrow waist and long legs; visibly taller and less petite than Ice Empress 1 54.
  • Hair: Silver-white, usually falling past her waist 1 36.
  • Features: Fair skin, refined facial features, and cool, clear eyes 1 47.
  • Clothing: Usually wears a pristine white gown; also appears in a close-fitting snow-white robe and later keeps Qian Chen’s silver-white cloak 1 48 54 55.
  • Bearing: Noble, dignified, and aloof in public, with a noticeably gentler expression toward Qian Chen 3 38.
  • Unchanging appearance: Her appearance remains unchanged during Qian Chen’s first six years in her care 3.

Personality

Snow Empress is cautious rather than impulsively compassionate. She initially distrusts the circumstances surrounding Qian Chen’s abandonment, but cannot leave a helpless infant to die. Once she accepts him, her care becomes practical and sustained: feeding him, teaching him, monitoring his injuries, and guiding his cultivation 2 3 4.

Her affection does not erase her sense of responsibility. She accepts that Qian Chen needs experiences beyond her protection and initially chooses her duty to the Far North over accompanying him. Nevertheless, prolonged separation reveals how deeply she depends on his presence 9 10 36.

As Qian Chen matures, her attachment becomes increasingly romantic and possessive. She notices other women’s closeness to him, asks whether she is important to him, and seeks reassurance that he will not leave her. Her usual composure gives way to embarrassment and vulnerability during their private conversations 49 54 55 62.

Threats against Qian Chen provoke a much harsher response. She calls him family and refuses to accept another Soul Beast’s territorial authority as justification for harming him. Even so, she can exercise restraint: she subdues the Titan Giant Ape without damaging its foundation and spares Xiong Jun in accordance with Qian Chen’s wishes 60 61.
