With that done, Long Ye remembered that Itachi's Mangekyō Sharingan possessed formidable abilities.

His Susanoo in particular wielded two divine weapons in its third form, the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror. It was arguably even stronger than Long Ye's Susanoo.

Wanting to "collect" it, Long Ye used the Extracorporeal Construction Method on Itachi's eyes.

The meridian system of Itachi's Mangekyō Sharingan was several times more complex than that of the Ketsuryūgan Long Ye had obtained. With two eyes to work on, the process took a full fifteen minutes.

When he finished, Long Ye possessed a second pair of Mangekyō Sharingan.

Whenever he wished, he could switch meridian systems in an instant. Just as he could use the Ketsuryūgan, he could gain eyes identical to Itachi's, along with all their abilities.

But because they were replicas, the Sharingan he gained would be in the same newly awakened, early stage as Itachi's. For now, they could not compare in strength to Shisui's eye.

For the Sharingan to evolve, they needed powerful ocular energy to sustain them. In that respect, they were just like the Ketsuryūgan.

Long Ye had previously seized the ocular energy of the Candle elder's eye. His own Ketsuryūgan therefore had twice the ocular energy of an ordinary one, and the human bombs he created were several times more powerful.

The shortcut to evolving his Sharingan was to steal ocular energy from other Sharingan users. If they evolved far enough, they might even transform into the Eternal Mangekyo.

That thought inevitably brought Danzo to mind.
