Long Ye and Rin rode the Wooden Kite, which could travel ten thousand miles a day. After flying for most of the day, they finally saw the legendary Shikkotsu Forest.
From the outside, Shikkotsu Forest, one of the three great cultivation grounds, seemed unremarkable. It was simply a vast rainforest.
The only unusual thing was that the jungle was completely dead silent. Not a single bird flew overhead.
The two landed at the very edge of the jungle.
"This is Shikkotsu Forest?"
Rin instinctively lowered her voice as she spoke.
Long Ye gazed into the jungle. "It doesn't look any different."
The Toad Copper Hammer had described this place as being as dangerous as Snake Cypress Valley. That left him baffled for a moment, unsure where the danger came from.
According to the toad, everyone who had entered had died without exception. Naturally, no one had been able to bring out any useful information about Shikkotsu Forest.
Long Ye stroked his chin and analyzed the situation.
"Slugs have astonishing medical abilities, but when it comes to fighting humans, their combat power is somewhat lacking among summoned beasts. That being the case, the danger most likely comes from Shikkotsu Forest itself!"
Long Ye seemed to think of something. He took out a spatial scroll, and after opening it, a piece of skin appeared in his hand.
"Drape this over yourself. We'll go in and investigate."
He handed the Poison Wind Toad Skin to Rin.
When Rin saw the somewhat horrifying sheet of flesh, her face twisted into a bitter melon.
It was the skin shed by a toad—and not an ordinary wild toad, but a summoned Poisonwind Toad. Its skin contained both wind and poison attributes and could withstand all poison-gas attacks.
Rin hesitated for a long while, but eventually took
