A quarter of an hour later, the pill furnace suddenly shook violently, and a burst of white vapor blasted open the lid.

Venerable Cang Long's voice nearly cracked.

Gu Feng was dumbfounded as well.

The two pills looked as if they had been carved from glazed glass. Nine golden patterns were clearly visible on their surfaces, shimmering with an eerie radiance beneath the lamplight.

Gu Sheng did not waste any time. He immediately placed one of the pills into Gu Lie's mouth. The pill melted upon entering, turning into a streak of golden light that slid down his throat. Moments later, Gu Lie's body suddenly arched, and he spat out a mouthful of black blood.

"Father!"

Gu Feng cried out.

The black blood hit the floor and corroded the stone slabs with a sizzling sound, sending up green smoke. Yet Gu Lie's breathing gradually steadied, while the dark aura on his face faded at a visible rate.

After another cup of tea's time, Gu Lie's eyelids trembled slightly before he slowly opened his eyes.

"Father!"

Gu Feng wept with joy.

Gu Lie's gaze was still somewhat unfocused, but the instant he saw Gu Sheng, his eyes abruptly brightened.
