Zhang Yang turned and walked inside, his voice leaving no room for argument. Xu Mingxian rushed to the doorway, dragged the unconscious bodyguard out, and left.
"Ha! The fool didn't know when to quit. Mr. Zhang didn't even have to lift a finger to deal with him."
Lin Dongqiang laughed to ease the tension, his words full of flattery for Zhang Yang.
The vast hall fell quiet again. On second thought, Zhang Yang was frighteningly powerful. Fortunately, he wasn't a madman, or any of them might have died at his hands.
"Make yourselves at home. Eat and drink as much as you like. It was just a little interruption—don't let it bother you."
He had taken his opponent down in a single move. Most people could never have done that, but Zhang Yang had made it look easy.
Everyone else was stunned, and even Liu Mei was taken aback.
"Xiao Yang..."
After settling everyone back down to continue their meal, Zhang Yang had barely sat when Liu Mei stared at him as though he were a monster.
"Mom, it's just something I practice for fun in my spare time. I know what I'm doing."
To keep his mother from worrying, Zhang Yang had to lie. He explained that being strong didn't make him a bad person. Besides, he'd had no choice. He had tried more than once to talk the man down, but it hadn't worked, and the man had brought bodyguards.
"Mom, don't worry about Zhang Yang. He's not a child. He won't go around picking fights."
Cheng Dongxue spoke to Liu Mei as though she knew Zhang Yang inside and out.
Everyone at the table was family. Many of these relatives had once treated Zhang Yang like an enemy, shutting him out, mocking him, and making cutting remarks.
