An Unexpected Win

Ling Junsheng grinned, as though following Zhang Yang had put him on the side of truth.

The three craftsmen stopped arguing. Ling Junsheng made the call: they would cut along the line Zhang Yang had drawn. Moments later, the stone was open.

Zhang Yang's judgment was spot-on. Under the beam of a powerful flashlight, the exposed stone was clear enough for everyone to see the result.

Meanwhile, cries of surprise kept rising from the other side. Before the stone could even be cleaned off, Craftsman Xie had drawn several lines around the round stone, like lines of latitude and longitude on a globe.

The lines varied a little in depth, but none went far beneath the surface. Everywhere they cut, green Jadeite appeared.

Everyone was stunned. They all worked in the Jadeite and Jade trade, yet this was the first time they had seen anyone judge the inside of a stone so accurately. For a while, no one could speak.

"All right, let's settle up."

When it came to Gambling on Stones, this was the part Ling Junsheng loved. Now that they had the results, it was time to divide the winnings.

The two craftsmen who had guessed wrong were dejected, as were the craftsmen who had bet alongside them. But the cutting craftsman and the youngest craftsman were delighted.

The youngest craftsman had lost on two stones, but he had won on the long shot. With odds that high, he still came out ahead.

"Boss, I've done the math. Each winner gets tens of thousands."

Ling Junsheng did not care about the exact amount. He spoke up at once.

"We're having a proper lunch today. Let's go out to eat—my treat, paid for with today's winnings."
