"Xiao Yang, what's wrong?"
Liu Mei was baffled too.
"Zhang Yang, what happened?"
Cheng Dongxue was full of worry. She couldn't shoulder Zhang Yang's burdens for him, but as his wife, she had a right to know and to comfort him.
"Mom, Xiao Xue, we're leaving. Now!"
Zhang Yang insisted, offering no explanation to anyone.
Zhang Xin'ai grew more certain that something had happened, though she had no idea what. Zhang Daoru had gone out with Zhang Yang tonight, but only Zhang Yang had returned.
"Young Master, where's my grandfather?"
Unease swept over Zhang Xin'ai, and she stepped in front of Zhang Yang.
"Move!"
Zhang Yang shouted through clenched teeth.
Zhang Xin'ai's shoulders shook. She had never seen Zhang Yang so angry. Something enormous must have happened tonight to provoke him like this. He had even been in a fight.
At the Zhang Family residence, no one dared stop him, and no one could have. Zhang Yang took Liu Mei and Cheng Dongxue, both still bewildered, and got into the same taxi as before.
"Xiao Yang, what on earth happened?"
Liu Mei couldn't help worrying at the sudden change in her son. No matter how hard things had been before, Zhang Yang had never looked so defeated. She raised a hand and stroked his face.
"I'm fine, Mom. We need to go back to Gong City."
Zhang Yang immediately booked plane tickets on his phone. They couldn't leave tonight, though, so he found a hotel for them to stay in.
At the Kyoto Hotel, Zhang Yang carried all their luggage. Liu Mei kept asking him what was wrong, worry written all over her face, but he only forced a smile and gave her no answer.
