Conan laid out his reasoning. "First, there's something strange about the direction the librarian's blood sprayed."

"That means the killer stabbed him from the side at very close range. And on the inside of your uniform cuff, near your wrist, there's a tiny blood spatter. You'd never notice it unless you looked closely!"

"Second, I pretended to fall earlier so I could look at the soles of your shoes. They're stained with Red Clay, the kind found only in the little flower bed beside the librarian's office!"

"Third, and most importantly!" Conan pointed at the man's key ring. "I saw that the librarian's desk drawer had been pried open."

"But one of the keys on your ring looks like it fits that drawer's lock. You probably opened it with the key, then deliberately broke the lock to make it look like someone had forced it!"

The three clues built on one another with impeccable logic. There was no way a child could have made that up on the spot!

The man's face turned deathly pale, and a wild glint flashed through his eyes.

He shoved aside the person next to him and lunged for the window!

"Trying to run?" Kabuto Yakushi's eyes flashed. With perfect timing, he stuck out a foot in an apparently clumsy stumble.

Thud! The man fell flat on his face.

The guards and bystanders swarmed him and pinned him down.

Seeing no hope of escape, the man's face twisted with fanatical rage. "Blasphemers! You can't stop the sacrifice! Lord Jashin will never let you get away with this!!!"

With that, he bit down hard. A poison capsule hidden in his mouth burst, and moments later, black foam spilled from his lips. He convulsed and stopped breathing.
