Day two of the Mid-Autumn Festival, and your author has been taken hostage by family.
Dear readers on Tomato Novel, while the warmth of the Mid-Autumn Festival is still lingering, here I am asking for another day off. Don't rush to mail me razor blades, and don't spam the book's discussion board with "The author's become a eunuch—this story's dead." Hear me out. Yesterday, I said I'd only take one day off, and today I was supposed to rise from the grave and update. But I have to confess: I underestimated the destructive power of the Mid-Autumn Festival. The festival itself is about family reunions; the second day is about "post-reunion syndrome." So, on this second day of the Mid-Autumn Festival, I'm taking another day off.
Here's what happened. Last night, I solemnly swore that I would update today. Then this morning, Mom said, "Since you're already here, stay another day." Dad said, "Leave tomorrow. Come to the market with me." My little niece clung to my leg and said, "Uncle, don't go! Stay and play with me." Then relatives dropped by, and I was dragged into chatting, eating, and smiling along. Just as I was about to open my laptop, Mom sent me to peel garlic; I had barely written two lines when Dad told me to move some boxes; just as I got into the zone, my niece took my phone to watch cartoons and snapped thirty unflattering pictures of me while she was at it. My keyboard now has cola, mooncake crumbs, and grease of unknown origin on it. How am I supposed to write like this? I stared at the screen, and the screen stared back. We were both in despair.
