Holy City Receives the Succession Report

Not long after Shien became governor, a message of the highest priority arrived in the Holy City from the Eternal Night Wall.

The Military Affairs Clerk responsible for the defense lines opened the outer envelope, checked the documents, then carried them down the corridor to the Anointed One's Office at the back of the Governor's Hall.

The Anointed One was spending a rare few days in the Holy City. For the past several years, he had spent most of his time traveling between the defense lines along the Eternal Night Wall.

Wherever a High-Tier Demonic Beast appeared, the White-Gold Holy Blade Knights usually appeared too.

And High-Tier Demonic Beasts had appeared more and more often in recent years. Even the White-Gold Holy Blade Knights, the Holy City's strongest Legion, had been run ragged.

But this year's Blood Moon Season had been much quieter, and the Anointed One had brought his Knights back to the Holy City.

The clerk knocked. "My lord, the succession results for the governor of the Tear Knight Defense Line have arrived."

"Come in."

The clerk entered. Behind the long table, the Anointed One was reading a Blood Moon Season report from another defense line.

Even here in the Holy City, the safest city humanity had, the Anointed One had not taken off his customary Golden Armor. His blond hair was tied loosely behind his head. He raised his amber-gold eyes and smiled at the clerk.

The clerk bowed and placed the documents on the table. "Shien Greenwood received more than half the valid votes in the Tear Knight Councilors' first ballot. The succession vote ended in the first round."

The Anointed One's hand paused on its way to the documents. "It ended in the first round?"

"Yes, my lord."
