Ren had barely had a moment to rest lately.

Sensing that Thanos would soon come knocking, he hadn't stayed in Kamar-Taj to enjoy the quiet life. Instead, he'd been scouring other dimensions for materials.

To remove the Mind Stone safely, he'd found a specialized Soul-Severing Array in the Book of the Vishanti.

Vision's construction was bizarre.

His Vibranium body was the hardware, and the Mind Stone was the core. His soul was essentially data code made up of zeroes and ones.

If the stone was forcibly pulled out, the data would collapse on the spot, and Vision would be finished.

It had taken Ren considerable effort to gather the rare ores needed for the array.

Back at the Sanctum, he piled the assorted materials on the floor.

Ding!

System detected all required materials. Construction of the Soul-Severing Array has begun!

Permanently solidify it as an exclusive spell?

"Confirm!" Ren answered without hesitation.

A blinding flash lit up his fingertips.

The light spread rapidly. The rare materials on the floor melted like snow and vanished into it.

A full half hour passed before an incredibly complex Magic Array took shape on the floor.

Ren flicked a finger.

The array shrank in an instant and slipped into his body.

Everything was ready. Ren had someone bring Vision into the room.

"Vision, I'm taking the yellow stone out of your forehead," Ren said bluntly.

Vision froze. "You found a way to remove it safely?"

"Yes. It won't kill you." Ren nodded. "But afterward, you'll need to find yourself a new battery. That shouldn't be beyond you, right?"

Vision nodded, though wariness showed in his eyes. "I have one question. How can I be sure you won't destroy the world after taking the Infinity Stone?"

Ren grinned.
