Nick Fury smacked his lips.
It seemed Ren was far more terrifying than he had imagined.
"At least something good came of this disaster."
"The asteroid belt is gone, but the monster has finally been dealt with."
"Earth is finally safe..."
Before Nick Fury could finish, his entire body went rigid as though he had been electrocuted.
He stared at the big screen.
The depths of the Universe, which had only just cleared, plunged once more into suffocating darkness.
A colossal shadow that blotted out the sun slowly emerged in space again.
Nick Fury's mind went blank. He was completely stunned.
Meanwhile.
Ren stood quietly in the vacuum of the Universe.
Arms folded, he seemed to have expected Chthon to reappear.
"No wonder you survived since the Ancient era. You're hard to kill."
Ren's remark was calm.
Gods were called gods partly because they wielded the power to destroy heaven and earth.
But the crucial reason was this:
They were almost impossible to kill.
Unless the faith sustaining them collapsed or the laws of the Universe were rewritten, gods were effectively immortal.
Take Eternity, a Creator God, for example.
You could blast his body to pieces, even scatter all his Divine Power.
But as long as life throughout the Universe still held the notion that time passed and eternity existed,
Eternity would never truly perish.
That was the terrifying advantage of being the embodiment of a cosmic rule.
Ren had known Chthon would not die so easily.
Sure enough, he was back for more.
"Human sorcerer."
"I must admit, your Magic is more powerful than I imagined. Even Gaia, back in her day, could not unleash destruction as absurd as yours."
"But you cannot kill me!"
"And I have all the time in the world to play with you!"
