Magellan's expression turned grave.
Beast Hell held more than prisoners. It also held Jailer Beasts—Zoans whose Awakenings had failed, stripping them of human consciousness and turning them into Monsters.
Those Jailer Beasts were terrifying. They could withstand tremendous punishment, recover quickly, and possessed strength far beyond that of humans. They were extremely difficult to deal with.
"For me, it's the perfect place,"
Xia Le said with a faint smile.
Magellan had his doubts, but he did not press. "I'll arrange it for you."
After a little more awkward conversation, they ran out of things to say, and Magellan left.
A Jailer then led Xia Le toward Beast Hell.
"Farther ahead, powerful Jailer Beasts roam freely. It's extremely dangerous!"
"Admiral Xia Le, you could choose an empty area to use as your office!"
The Jailer stared at the massive shadow ahead and spoke with a fearful tremor.
Xia Le did not mind. He studied the broad corridor ahead, then nodded. "Get back to work."
"Thank you, Admiral Xia Le!"
The Jailer let out a long breath, turned, and ran.
Xia Le smiled faintly and looked ahead.
The dark, damp corridor was paved with enormous, hard stone blocks. Torches burned fiercely at intervals along both walls.
Clearly, the torches here were replaced only after long stretches of time. Vast sections of the corridor had fallen into complete darkness.
Within that darkness, huge, dangerous shapes flickered faintly.
"So this is my home from now on?"
Murmuring to himself, Xia Le walked forward.
As soon as he moved, the huge shadow ahead moved too. In the blink of an eye, an enormous, savage head emerged into the light.
Blood-red eyes looked down at him, and two streams of white vapor billowed from its nostrils.
"Not a bad place to sharpen my strength."
