"Outsiders?"

"What outsiders?"

At some point, Kuta and Kuina had come down from the windmill and were standing on the bow deck.

Kuta let go of Kuina and stood at an angle on the bow. His feet might as well have taken root; even with the bow tilted seventy degrees, he did not slide.

Kuina slid down to Robin, took her hand, and hugged it to her chest. Turning to her with a smile, she said, "Robin, don't listen to Doctor Indigo! Once you're aboard, we're partners. There's no such thing as an outsider among partners!"

Then Kuina turned and glared at Indigo.

"Heh-heh!"

Indigo was not afraid. After so long aboard, he had left behind the cautious mindset he had when he first joined.

"Kuina, don't blame me. You have to let me finish!"

"Cackle, cackle!"

"Go on, then. Let's hear what you have to say."

Kuina stared at Indigo sternly.

After all this time with them, he still thought of himself as an outsider. That made her a little angry.

At the bow, Kuta leaned against the railing, drinking and watching them with interest.

He was curious, too. After all this time aboard, what did Indigo make of their crew?

Kuta had forced him to join them in the first place.

Indigo glanced at Kuina, then turned to Kuta with a serious expression. "First, Captain, there's something I need to say to you."

He pushed away from the railing, bowed to Kuta, and said loudly, "Thank you!"

"All right, all right."

Kuta paused with his drink in hand and smiled at Indigo. "Come on. Why the sudden thank-you between partners?"
