Background and History
Qingqing is the daughter of a powerful family involved in abyssal-core energy. Her mother died when she was young, leaving her a silver pocket watch. Her father has another wife and children; the family provides Qingqing with an apartment and money on the condition that she stay away from family occasions and conceal her connection to them 59.
While Qingqing’s wind-type Source Core is approaching awakening, three men break into her university dormitory to harvest it. Weakened by uncontrolled wind energy, she still tries to defend herself with a bedside lamp. Ziwei stops the attackers and gives Qingqing a Spirit-Breath Primeval Stone, telling her that she may soon become a Magical Girl 38 39.
When the wind inside her surges again during a campus lockdown, Qingqing follows a message from the Star Magical Girls and draws it into her mother’s watch. This stabilizes her condition and hides the magical readings from the Monster Hunting Bureau. She later meets Ziwei at an abandoned air-raid shelter, where Ziwei guides her awakening and makes her face her first monsters 41 42.
Qingqing subsequently helps Su Xiaoxiao’s fan club, unaware that Xiaoxiao’s brother Su Bai is Ziwei. After seeing Su Bai carry four heavy donation boxes with ease, she suspects he is a formidable body cultivator and asks him to train her; he declines 47 48. Beneath her polite manner, Qingqing feels isolated. Joining the Star Magical Girls gives her comrades, but she worries that they know and value Azure Gale rather than Ye Qingqing. She eventually tells Ziwei about her estrangement from the Ye family 58 59.
