"After all, nobody expected much from us. Oguri Cap and I may usually be pretty unassuming, but when it's time to burn, we're no pushovers."
The old trainer walked over, looking proud and thoroughly pleased with how he and Oguri Cap had performed.
But Zhou Yuang's smile froze.
Zhou Yuang knew this man was probably Kitahara, the trainer who had first worked with Oguri Cap's real-life counterpart. Still, seeing him appear right after that thought had crossed Zhou Yuang's mind left him unwilling to back down.
I'm next. I won't lose.
He felt no resentment, only a fire of his own kindled by the blaze he had just witnessed.
Keeping an inscrutable smile on his face, Zhou Yuang silently regarded the senior he respected.
In the cutscenes, the old trainer had seemed exceptionally kind. As someone who had learned from him, Zhou Yuang naturally owed him respect.
"Thank you for all your hard work, sir."
The racing world wasn't just about fighting it out on the track. Relationships mattered too.
Plenty of trainers and their apprentices inevitably became rivals in the end.
Beside him, McQueen happily joined the conversation with the old trainer.
"Mr. Trainer, why not put off retirement for a while? You and Oguri Cap gave everyone such a wonderful race."
