Dian had been considering how to draw information out of Aaron when he looked up at him and suddenly noticed that something seemed wrong.

No, he did not even need a close look to tell. Aaron's eyes had already gone blank, and a strange red light flickered within them.

At the same time, a brilliant red glow radiated from Misdreavus. A ripple of multicolored light shot out of it, wrapped around Aaron, and slowly seeped into his eyes, ears, mouth, and nose.

Not only that, but the mind-bewitching words murmured through Hex gradually took tangible form, becoming mysterious symbols around Aaron's body before etching themselves into him.

By the time all the symbols and colors had vanished, Aaron's eyes had lost every trace of life and become utterly vacant. Anyone could tell that he had been hypnotized—or rather, robbed of his senses.

After doing all this, Misdreavus seemed utterly exhausted. She rubbed her eyes, then drifted slowly onto Dian's head, grabbed his hair, and fell straight asleep.

Dian first took out Skiploom's and Zubat's Poké Balls and called them out to stand watch nearby. If anything went wrong, Zubat was to use Mean Look immediately, while Skiploom would attack Aaron with Sleep Powder and Stun Spore carried on Fairy Wind.

Only after making these arrangements did he take another look at Aaron, who really did seem completely hypnotized. He had not moved at all this entire time.

Dian stroked Misdreavus to check her current physical data. Sure enough, she had gained a move called Hex, but its description differed from that of an ordinary Hex.
