"Lar! Lar!"
The moment Larvitar heard "hot bath," he began struggling. He really did hate water.
Unfortunately, Dian couldn't give in on this. Rhydon could use Surf, which proved Larvitar could learn not only to stop fearing water, but even to use it.
Dian had to correct that thinking while Larvitar was young. Knowing his weakness didn't mean he had to fear it. If anything, it meant he should do everything he could to overcome it.
Dian had asked Misdreavus to pin Larvitar down with Shadow Sneak for a reason, too. He hoped Larvitar's hatred of baths would grow strong enough for him to sense the Ghost-type energy and, ideally, break free.

Misdreavus went around startling people and Pokémon to absorb Fear Energy. Whenever she needed help, she sought out Honedge, honing her moves while practicing Spite in the hope of learning Hex soon.
Once Beedrill had mastered Pin Missile, he returned to the Forest to battle Poison-type Pokémon. He used those fights to absorb their Toxic Essence, while also gathering and eating highly poisonous foods in hopes of mastering Venoshock quickly.
Skiploom's routine was much simpler. She practiced the moves she already knew while eating all kinds of
