Although extensive data and verification had only been obtained for the Oddish evolutionary line, even that had brought him considerable benefits—and lasting ones at that.

This was the advantage of having a theoretical paper recognized as valuable. Whenever someone cited it, or used or downloaded related papers developed from it, he, as the original proposer, would receive a share of the fees to support his further scientific research.

Moreover, as time passed and follow-up research progressed, his earnings would only increase.

Even now, he received nearly ten thousand a month in research funding, enough to cover his Pokémon's training needs and other special supplements while he was at the academy.

Most importantly, his paper on Ability Inheritance and Transformation had officially brought him into the academic community. Fortunately, with Lorelei's support behind the scenes and Azisa's help, the process had gone relatively smoothly.

Otherwise, it would have been far more difficult and convoluted than he had imagined.

Through this paper, he had also established contact with the Suzuki Research Institute and mentioned his Growth Promotion Theory, which happened to overlap with the research interests of a researcher there named Sega.

Even more coincidentally, Sega had plenty of evolution data but lacked a supporting theory, while Dian was the exact opposite: he had a theory but no supporting data. The two hit it off immediately and planned to publish the paper together before anyone else beat them to it.

Publishing this paper would likewise bring him another source of income. Of course, that was only the obvious benefit. The less obvious one was that it would raise his standing in the academic community a little further, which
