Larvitar's Little Goal

"Yo!"

Larvitar happily picked up the Nanab Berry from the ground and took a bite, its face lighting up with bliss.

Then it glanced at the piece of quartz in its hand, snapped off a chunk, and tossed it into the bushes as a return gift for the Aipom. Unfortunately, it had forgotten how strong it was.

Bang!

"Pichu!"

A pale-yellow mouse Pokémon clutched its head, tears glistening in its big black eyes. Sparks sprang from its red cheeks, crackling loudly.

"Pichu!!"

Pichu hurled the chunk of quartz back, cried out, and unleashed all its electricity in a Thunder Shock!

"Larvitar, bear it. Pay attention to how the current feels as it flows through your body."

Dian's heart leaped. He hadn't expected to find the Pokémon he was looking for so soon.

"Yo."

Larvitar obediently made no attempt to dodge or block Pichu's Thunder Shock with Ancient Power. It let the golden bolt strike its body.

"Yo..."

Pain crossed Larvitar's face, but it quickly faded.

Excitement flashed in Dian's eyes. Larvitar evolved into Pupitar, then finally into Tyranitar.

The first two had fairly similar sets of moves, but Tyranitar's underwent a dramatic change.

Rain Dance, originally a weather move, opened the way to Water-type moves that were easier to learn and more commonly used: Water Pulse, Aqua Tail, and even the more powerful Surf!

Likewise, the weather move Sunny Day opened the way to Fire Fang, Fire Punch, Flamethrower, Burn Up, and even the Fire-type move Fire Blast!

And that wasn't all. There were Ghost-type moves like Shadow Claw, and Ice-type moves like Ice Fang, Ice Punch, Ice Beam, and Blizzard.

It gained quite a few Dragon-type moves as well.

Most important of all were the Electric-type moves, which seemed completely at odds with its Rock and Ground types!
