Jessie took a deep breath. "Ah, the scent of treasure. Yes, no doubt about it. That's definitely the scent of treasure!"

The three exchanged glances and snickered.

Meanwhile, on a small arched bridge, Ash rescued Latias, who had taken the form of a human girl, from the Thief Sisters. Of course, the two might have let Ash and Latias escape on purpose, hoping they would lead them to the Soul Dew.

After leaving the Secret Garden, Dian headed toward the Great Cathedral. He wanted to see the fossil ruins inside and that unknown machine far ahead of its time.

Besides, he had nowhere else to go. He could hardly leave Alto Mare for the moment with the Soul Dew in his possession.

"Misdreavus!"

Misdreavus tugged at his hair and gestured toward a hidden corner ahead and to the right.

Dian glanced over without betraying anything. It was a small surveillance camera, probably planted by the two thieves.

He kept smiling, but discreetly signaled to Larvitar behind him.

"Lar."

Larvitar set down the Crepe in its hands, and a red light flashed in its eyes.

Boom!

A small swirl of sand sprang up out of nowhere and engulfed the camera. Larvitar curled its little hand, and the camera shattered with a bang.

"What happened?!"

"An explosion?!"

"No way. Someone probably set off fireworks somewhere. It's the Summer Festival, after all."

"Oh, fireworks. That gave me a scare."

Dian stopped too. After making a show of looking around, he blended back into the crowd and continued toward the central square where the Great Cathedral stood.

He figured Ash must have rescued Latias in Kanon's form by now, reunited with Misty and Brock, and started toward the Great Cathedral.

The Thief Sisters, meanwhile, would follow Ash's movements and discover the Secret Garden.
