Every grain of sand in this Desert contained Sandy Crystals. Or, more simply, this Desert was a world made of Sandy Crystals and the materials surrounding them.

The Sandy Crystals appeared scattered, but they were actually linked into a single whole. They were like light, which was made of particles yet existed in a constant state of connection and separation.

If time were compressed infinitely into a single point, the Sandy Crystals throughout the Desert would each exist as separate particles.

But once time began to flow, some connection would draw the Sandy Crystals together. Through that same connection, the sand itself could ultimately form a massive sandstorm.

"This Desert is alive."

Dian scooped up a handful of sand, then tilted his hand and watched the fine grains trickle down.

In that light, Sandy Crystals were more than merely related to the Sand Stream Ability and the Sandstorm Move. They were also one of the reasons those abilities existed.
