In the end, Dian reluctantly picked up Report No. 404. This lousy hospital would have gone under sooner or later if the Unova League hadn't been backing it.
He was the only patient in the entire hospital, yet they still assigned him 404. Couldn't they have given him 618 instead?
"The Pokémon reserved for you is at the Aspertia City Pokémon Center. Please make your own arrangements."
Dian's gaze sharpened as he read the report in his hand. It seemed the Unova League's investigation had concluded.
Although the place he had been staying in was nominally a hospital, it was effectively a prison. The name just sounded nicer.
This incident had implicated a wide range of parties: three regions, a renowned professor, the International Police, and even the Pokémon Ranger Union.
So, until everything had been reviewed, Dian had ostensibly been recuperating, but in reality, his freedom to travel through Unova had been restricted.
There was a corresponding benefit, though: they hadn't confiscated his temporary prosecutor credentials.
That counted as holding an official post. He just wondered whether he could collect an allowance without doing any work.
"Looks like the Unova League is the best of a bad bunch. They certainly know how to win people over."
Dian nodded in satisfaction. Excellent. He now had something resembling a secure government job.
He quickly got up and recalled the two sleeping babies, then took Misdreavus and Jumpluff to complete his discharge procedures—which meant collecting his Pokémon Pokédex.
This was a Trainer's passport throughout the various regions.
"Thank you for visiting. We look forward to seeing you again."
The young receptionist smiled so sweetly that anyone who didn't know better would have thought this hospital offered outstanding service.
Dian returned a pleasant smile, but inwardly, he was on the verge of swearing.
