"Cross Poison!"
Hunter J swept her hand out, ordering Drapion to join Ariados in fighting Servine.
Meanwhile, Metagross and Beedrill faced each other down, neither making a reckless move.
"Meta."
Metagross hovered silently in midair, its scarlet eyes flickering constantly with a light that seemed more mechanical than biological.
A miniature model of Beedrill had already appeared in its eyes, surrounded by densely packed data and attack routes.
Metagross was more than happy to stall. The longer it had, the more thoroughly it could analyze the surrounding air currents, temperature, and even the design of various offensive tactics!
Likewise, Beedrill adjusted its body, quietly entering the second stage of Swords Dance. It also needed time to adapt to this change to avoid wasting stamina.
Pupitar and Salamence continued trading Hyper Beams without a single opening. Neither dared stop... because the instant one did, it would take a Hyper Beam head-on!
Elsewhere, Ariados and the injured Drapion alternated their attacks against Servine... the situation was unfavorable!
Dian glanced over. Servine's Magical Leaf did little damage to Drapion, but she couldn't engage it at close range either!
"Grassy Terrain, Grass Knot!"
After giving the command, he continued watching Hunter J intently. He felt certain she was waiting for something!
"Servine."
With a gentle flick of her tail and a flash of green, Servine escaped Drapion and Ariados's attack range. She had understood her Trainer's intent from his instructions: she didn't need to win, only keep them occupied.
Actually, Servine was somewhat puzzled. Why hadn't her Trainer told her to use Leaf Storm right away and strengthen her attacks with Contrary...?
Drapion's Ability was Battle Armor, and its training emphasized attack and defense. That Ariados, meanwhile, had completely abandoned developing its other moves to specialize in String Shot...
Dian glanced at Metagross and
