The sky was growing dark. Mera's magic was nearly complete, and the waters of the Gotham River had taken on a state close to the color out of space, making people afraid to approach.
"Thanks for the hard work." Roland parked the Batmobile on the bridge and spoke to Mera.
"It wasn't really hard work," Mera said. "I'm finished here. Take a look—any problems?"
"No problems." Roland nodded.
"What have you been doing all day? I heard you had Gotham City in an uproar," Aquaman asked Roland.
"I didn't do much. Just had a drink at a bar, played a couple of games of bowling, petted a few dogs at the Pet Market, and watched half a movie at the theater..." Roland said after a moment's thought.
"Well, you really are a little too brazen for a wanted criminal. No wonder those cops were chasing you like their lives depended on it."
"That's not why they were chasing me so hard. Mostly, it's because I did all of that with Commissioner Gordon's daughter."
"...You kidnapped a teenage girl?" Aquaman felt he still knew far too little about Roland.
"What do you mean, kidnapped? That sounds awful. I just took a girl out to have some fun." Roland spread his hands.
"I don't think Commissioner Gordon would see it that way."
"What do I care? As long as my Batmobile's safe parked outside his place." Roland turned to Barbara in the back seat. "Right?"
Flashpoint Barbara said nothing. She sat alone in the back seat, lost in thought, still unable to figure out why Roland had kidnapped her.
"Everything here is finished, so we should head back," Mera told Roland. "Just drop us off at Amnesty Bay."
