"Was it that obvious?" Bruce picked up a slice of fish.
"Of course—so you really were planning to go beat someone up?"
"Yeah, teach Riddler a lesson." Bruce nodded. "That guy is just too infuriating."
"Riddler? No wonder." Roland understood. "All right, let's go together in a bit.

"Let's get it over with early. I've still got a ton of things to do afterward," Bruce said. "There's a project I have to give a speech for later."
"What project?" Roland asked.
"An old park was going to be demolished, so I bought the site. I'm planning to build a landmark there," Bruce explained.
"Nice. That should make you quite a bit of money, right?"
"It's decent. The upfront investment is high, but it'll turn a profit later," Bruce said. "Penguin argued with me for quite a while over it."
"He wanted that land too? You didn't get into a fight?"
"No, it was all business negotiations." Bruce picked up a piece of fish cheek. "I offered more money and better terms."
This was probably Penguin's first time seeing a money bulldozer roll right over him, Roland thought. Before going legit, the guy had been bullied by Batman. Now that he'd gone legit, he still had to get bullied by Bruce. What rotten luck.
"I'm done. Let's go." Bruce pushed his plate aside.
"Sure." Roland stood up, and the students who had fished Lisa Bonner out of the harbor earlier followed him. They all boarded a van and headed for Arkham Asylum.
"The two of us will sit in the middle." Bruce held a magazine in front of his face. "I don't want tomorrow's headline to be 'Bruce Wayne and adopted son kidnapped by unidentified priest.'"
"Good point." Tim put on his sunglasses.
"Fine, as long as people don't gossip
