Ye Qing recognized the voice at once, but he couldn't understand what Meng Hao was thinking. Why confess here?
Even though Ye Qing wasn't pursuing an idol career, he knew how important his fans' support was to Meng Hao right now.
"Sorry, I don't like you that way." That was Gu Ze's voice.
Ye Qing had known Gu Ze would turn him down.
"Why? I've liked you for so long. I—I entered the entertainment industry because of you."
"But that doesn't mean I have to like you back. I'm really sorry." With that, Gu Ze turned to leave.
Meng Hao still wouldn't give up. "Brother Gu, do you like Ye Qing?"
Gu Ze said nothing and kept walking.
"What's so good about Ye Qing? He doesn't like you, but he keeps stringing you along! I'd never do that!" Meng Hao shouted after him.
No matter what Meng Hao said, Gu Ze walked away without looking back. Some things couldn't be put into words. It was enough that he knew how he felt.
As Gu Ze disappeared into the distance, Ye Qing tried to slip away too. He hadn't expected to stumble upon a scene like this when he'd only come out for a walk.
Meng Hao surely wouldn't want anyone to know what had happened, so Ye Qing meant to leave quietly.
But sometimes, there was no escaping Murphy's law.
Ye Qing was already being careful. He'd even softened his footsteps, yet somehow he stepped on a fallen branch.
Wait. I could've sworn there wasn't a branch here.
Meng Hao didn't approach at the leisurely pace people did on television. The moment he heard the sound, he came looking.
Ye Qing glanced around. Meng Hao would see him no matter which way he ran, so he stayed where he was.
