The Compass Dispute

Woof! Woof! Woof!

Fang barked and wagged his tail, his eyes gleaming as he stared hopefully at Robin's empty right hand.

"Fang, you want to play the invisibility game too, don't you?"

Woof! Woof! Woof!

Fang wagged his tail and nodded. Robin raised his right hand and placed it on Fang's forehead!

Well, Fang had turned invisible. Part of him had, anyway!

"Robin Sear, did you cut off Fang's head? Hagrid will never forgive you!"

Ronan leaped out of the bushes, frowning in displeasure.

But he quickly dismissed the idea that the boy had killed Fang. The boy's right hand was gone, there was no blood anywhere, and, most importantly, he could hear Fang barking. The dog sounded delighted, like a naughty child whose prank had worked.

"Robin, you and Fang are conducting some strange magical experiment, aren't you?"

Ronan sounded certain.

"You got it!"

Robin withdrew his right hand, and Fang's big head sat securely on his neck again. Fang ambled over to Ronan, barking excitedly and pawing at his legs.

Clearly, he wanted Ronan to join the invisibility game.

"Robin, your magic doesn't seem to have worked. What kind of invisibility spell hides only one little part?"

"That's why I need to practice!"

Robin raised his right arm and cut off a stream of red Magic inside him. He shook his sleeve, and three seconds later, his right hand was firmly attached to his wrist again!

Fang still wanted to play. He pressed his forehead into Robin's palm until it turned red!

"Fang, it's dark. That's enough practice for today. I'll play with you again tomorrow!"
