The compass looked ancient. Scratches covered it, green patina coated the brass, and its needle wobbled slightly whenever the chain moved.
Luo Bin doubted it worked at all. To keep the argument from escalating, he made up a question about brewing potions and pulled Snape outside.
"Taking a long trip with Hagrid is a terrible idea!" Snape said, his face tight with displeasure.
Luo Bin took the compass and shrugged. "Rubeus Hagrid has tamed plenty of magical beasts. He knows what he's doing. Professor, is there anything you'd like me to bring back from Romania?"
"Robin Sear, do you have any idea how serious this is?"

You're worried about Hagrid because he's rough, careless, fond of drinking, and forgetful. You're worried about me because I'm still a young wizard. So why don't you come to Romania with us?"
"I have no interest in fire-breathing dragons. Take this and pack in as much as you can!"
With that, Snape turned and strode away, his robes whipping behind him.
Luo Bin examined the little blue cloth pouch, which was about the size of two palms. It had been enchanted with Undetectable Extension. Its storage space was far larger than it appeared, which meant it could hold all sorts of things, including a Broomstick.
Getting the Blue Cloth Pouch made Luo Bin happier than winning a fortune. When he returned to the Little Stone Hut, Hagrid was fiddling with the brass compass.
Hagrid's broad hand blocked the compass from view. "A... a little screw came loose, that's all. Just need to tighten it!"
Perhaps he was too nervous, or perhaps he had used too much force. Either way, the compass fell apart, scattering pieces
