Boom!

White light erupted. Flames, heat, and black smoke blasted the asphalt road beyond recognition.

"Cough, cough!"

Old Wolf covered his nose.

Sometimes having a keen sense of smell was no blessing. The acrid stench of gasoline and burning metal nearly choked him unconscious.

The driver's face had become a red-hot mask of rage. Coughing up mouthfuls of blood, he demanded hysterically, "If you knew all along, why did you play along?"

Chen Feng smiled. "If I'm not mistaken, those three white-robed passengers you dropped off were the other Dharma Protectors, weren't they?"

"So what if they were?"

"I didn't want you all ganging up on me. Since you were dumb enough to split off and offer me a free kill, why wouldn't I play along?"

"You!"

Seeing Ear-Hearing Fury fume gave Chen Feng a private thrill. The gloom left by being cursed at throughout the climb vanished.

There was still one thing Chen Feng didn't understand.

If this guy knows I can come back to life, why kill me? What's the point?

If he didn't understand, he could ask.
